Anyways next month we have Belgium GP on the Sunday followed by Man United vs Chelsea on the Monday.

There are those of us to whom the recommencement of ball-kicking is of absolutely no relevence whatsoever.

I support that club.

I remember an interview with Ecclestone back in the early 90's where he complained that he wanted to get away from Great Britain, "why?" asked the reporter.

"I can't operate in a country that closes down for two weeks over Christmas and the New Year"., he replied.

He is however, quite content to close down an entertainment industry for a month at the height of the Summer.

Strange that in the good old days races in August were as well, if not better attended than at other times of the year.

Living in Weymouth I am perfectly acquainted with beach life and you would be surprised how many people still work in August.

Plus which people actually go on holidays at other times of the year and can still manage the miracle of finding a TV somewhere.

As the season starts in August I imagine they will be playing to empty stadia* because all of Europe will be sitting on Weymouth beach.
