Tendulkar to continue another 5 years?

I think he does continue till about 45. Many players have played till that age and physically theres no problem for a batsman unlike bowlers and he can be replaced in the field from time to time.
Yes he may not average 50 over the next 5 years but i am sure he will definitely average more than 40. And he has retired from limited over so no workload problem.
Also, cricket would benefit from his reputation.
..
What cricket fans think? Can he push for another half dozen years? Reach 20000 test runs and 60+ test tons?

A certain jack hobbs scored 2500 ish runs and about 8 tons after turning 40.
Certainly tendulkar has potential to better that.
Also he has that one elusive world record inning (400+).
Atleast a triple is what the fan wants.

You cant compare Tendulkar with Hobbs...

Hobbs was miles better.

I hope he does, and comes to England next summer and do what he did last time.Which was nothing.

He should bow out with dignity. He has really struggled in test cricket ever since he was on 99 hundreds. India have a lot of talent ready and the last thing they need is this God like figure ahead of them not down to merit.

The guy is class. He should continue as long as possible. If misbah can produce 50's on a regular basis at the age of 40, why can't the little master?

IMHO, Tendulkar should have retired when India won the last ODI WC. He is dragging on for too long.

Fans would like to remember Tendulkar as one of the greatest batsmen who played with authority, not as someone who struggled.

Clearly, he has been struggling for at least 2 years. His reflexes have obviously slowed down.

If he insists on continuing, he will add to his aggregate runs, but his batting average, which has dropped in the past 2 years, will suffer more.

More importantly, watching him play and miss, and struggle will not help the confidence of the younger batsmen in the team.

Tendulkar wants 200 test matches, he is 2 away, his batting average is 53.86, superb, yet that is on the wane, he used to average over 56, only Kallis & Sangakarra average that now, if he continues his embarrassing decline his legend will fade away, just like his average.

I will never ever forget some of the innings this guy has played..ever. But I still feel with the retirement of Dravid, VVS and exodus of senior players such as Sehwag, Gambhir and Yuvraj that Indian test middle order does still lack guile and a Tendulkar in there is better than none. Lets see how he does in SA later this year

after the IPL tendulkar retired and said his time has come and he has to be more realistic now as he is ageing.
with that in mind, even SA imo looks a fair distance, and he could well call it quits if doesnt find form in the domestic seoson.
Tendulkar hasnt played first class cricket since the aussie test series and he will be very rusty come september.
I would love to see him carry on, but only if he keeps on scoring those big 100s he used to.Dont want to see his ave drop any further.

My hunch is Tendulkar will not have great success if goes to SA in Winter. It is not a place full of runs for someone in his fading years.
