World Cup 2015 Groups Announced

Two groups where the top 4 qualify to the quarter finals and looking at the group it should be a foregone conclusion with the only exception Ireland in Pool B.

Pool A: England, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Qualifier 2 and Qualifier 3

Pool B: South Africa, India, Pakistan, West Indies Zimbabwe, Ireland and Qualifier 4

Pool A we get to see England play the Aussies again.
Pool B presents another Pak V India match so can we break this hoodoo or will it be 6-0

Once again its a long, boring 44 day tournament with plenty of dead rubbers. 7 teams per group is ridiculous and to be honest will make the tournament a drag. We saw how good the Champions Trophy format was and maybe adding 2 more teams would have been ideal but to have groups of 7 is just a blunder.

I guess early favourites are India and there is talk that the 2 new ball rule will get abandoned which may favour the Asian sides with spinners as the pitch will get used and abused throughout the 49 games

Australia will be strong favourites. have very strong record at home regardless of how poor they are in tests.

The problem with india here is they will come to the tournament after playing 4tests against the aussies, and if they dont perform well here, they could be very low in confidence. and injuries could play a big part as well.

Viru,

I think the problem with all sub continent teams will be their inability to play on bowler friendly pitches. Pakistan certainly need to sort out their batting prior to this, otherwise best of not going.

The world cup is being played at the back end of the Aussie summer which means there will not be many fresh pitches, the atmosphere will be hot and humid and all in all good for batting. Think it will be a pretty open tournament.

we still have around 1year and 8 months left. Hard to say what the teams will be like at that point of time.

England have a chance aswell. Not so good on slow turning tracks. But wil have the batsmen to play on good batting wickets with true bounce.. Every team wil have a chance due to the wickets. will be an open tournament.

If India are to play tests in australia before the WC I can't see how its not an advantage. They will get used to the conditions. Also they are generally a very different outfit in ODIs as compared to what they are in tests, so to some extent their performance in test matches does not matter much even if they lose badly.

Anyway I should be worried about my team, which needs lots and lots of work to do, findings to be done before the WC.

England lucky to avoid Ireland, Ireland would kick there ass again.

winning ways. it could be an advantage if they perform well in those tests. If India dont perform well, then just check India's record after the whitewashes in england and australia. They lost almost everything even the odi series they played.
Its more to do with the confidence rather than the ability to play. If your team suffers a big loss like 3-0 or 4-0 the whole morale goes down and then there is obviously pressure to defend the title.

England have a chance? To be silly. This is an ODI tournament.
