My views

Well its back to work after an immense day yesterday, just thought i'd give a round up of my views of the game.

First off it was my 2nd time to new Wembley and (despite being in Club Wembley in City's end!!) the atmosphere was great with both sets of fans giving it all. Bit of a worry that United only looked lethal with our own fans behind the goal, hopefully not an omen for our poor away form continuing.

Keepers:
De Gea: Made a howler but other than that looked pretty assured and impressed with his distribution.
Hart: Good keeper with bags of potential, but god is he overrated. Somehow was given keeper of the year last season over VDS despite constantly miss-hitting clearances out of play.

Defence:
Lapsing in the two goals and i was worried with the half time subs, but it just showed how impressive our depth is this year.
Uncharacteristic display from Kompany, but usual inconsistency from Richards who one minute looks class then nearly breaks Young's legs with a ridiculous 'tackle'

Midfield:
Surprisingly United's dominance came from the middle of the park our supposed weakest area. Carrick was solid in the first half, however when replaced by Cleverly (who was a joy to watch) it shows how much difference it makes to have somebody with drive in the middle, over someone solely concerned with retaining possession.

Our wingers were dangerous all game with Nani rightly awarded MOM.
My main comment about Young is his workrate is fantastic. Yes he gives the ball away a few times but he sprints his ass off to win it back, even in in the last few minutes.

City's midfield was non-existent, apart from some dangerous play from Silva in the second half who is clearly city's best player imo.

Forwards:
Rooney was his typical self in the middle, but didn't have a lot of chances. Welbeck did ok and is getting some rave reviews on here...but I’m still not a fan, I don't think he makes intelligent runs, poor first touch and doesn't get to involved in build up play. But he's young so i won't write him off.

City missed Tevez massively, maybe if Aguerro was on there would have been a bit more impotence to their attacks, but I can't see them improving on last season if Tevez leaves.

Fantastic performance from United and if we continue to play like that I can't see past us for the prem this year.

At last football is back.

Just a sidenote I was sat near an Italian pair and a couple of Londoners who were City fans, which was confusing as i thought all City fans came from Manchester?

Sorry for the length but it feels like i've been waiting for the new season for a century.

"Carrick was solid in the first half"

He gave the ball away for the second goal!

... pretty much agree with the rest of it though.

Fair enough, I've not seen the highlights tbh so didn't know it was Carrick, Cleverly deserves a start on Sunday now.

So your balming carrick for the second goal.

Your a sap im afraid!

city had possesion and silva knocked it out to decko who hit it.

What your are saying is carrick who was attacking lost the ball then, 30 seconds later goal.

nothing to do with carrick

WHAT!?

Carrick hit yet another ****e pass, and two City passes later the ball was in the back of the net.

It was certainly more Carricks fault than anyone else.

I think you need to look up the word 'impotence' in the dictionary, unless you are suggesting that City would have been worse had Aguero been playing?
Is Aguero shooting blanks?
