Why cant Spurs fans accept Modric wants to leave?

Haha £20m for Henderson still makes me roll around in stitches of laughter!

Not as much as £35 million Carroll

When United buy a player it is to add strength and depth when City buy a player said player is over-rated only here for the money and we already have 3 players who could do a job better.

Modric wants out.

Levy made a gentleman´s agreement Modric that Spurs would listen to offers if a big club came in with a bid.

Levy then rejected Chelsea´s bid saying that Modric is not for sale at any price.

That is the Modric saga in a nutshell.

Not quite accurate. The club statment was that no key player would be sold THIS SUMMER! This includes Modric.

This statement (to supporters and players) was issued at the end of season, before any bid for Modric, and therefore overrides any gentleman's agreement previously made to a key player (albeit not indefinitely but just for one transfer window).

Lesson in life for Modric - never trust the spoken word!

Sorry but your explanation makes no sense whatsoever.

Whichever way you try to dress it up Levy went back on his word to Modric.

Modric is quoted in the Guardian as saying the following:

"I reminded the chairman of our gentleman's agreement when we were in Dubrovnik last summer and I agreed a contract extension with Tottenham. Then I had an open chat with Levy – that if a bigger club came in with a concrete offer, we would consider it and agree the best solution for all concerned".

Yet when Chelsea came in with a concrete offer this summer Levy issued a statement that Modric is not for sale at any price - therefore going back on his gentleman´s agreement with Modric.

to be fair now, i rarely side with these spuds but modric is technically going back on a written agreement, far worse than going back on a "verbal agreement"

I accept that Levy went back on his word but he is entitled to do that particularly when he is choosing the lesser of two evils.

Which promise do you break?

The one made in public to supporters, players, manager (basically the whole club) or the one that only upsets one player that was made in private and does not carry much weight in comparison to his legally binding contract.

Maybe not but Modric obviously signed the contract extension last summer thinking that Daniel Levy would be true to his word.

He wasn´t and that tells you everything you need to know about Daniel Levy.
