Verhoek!

On the OS, a fee has been agreed and he's on his way to Nottingham to discuss personal terms! With Rangers and Fulham sniffing around, I think it's fair to say Forest have played a blinder.

1 euro is currently about 86p so 2 million euros is around the region of £1.75m I think. About the same we paid for Gunter a couple of years ago, who has been a priceless player for us really.

And it's my birthday. I didn't actually think I'd get what I asked for! If the rumours are true, the belated gift of Nicky Maynard could be in the post by the end of the month too!

thanks Strettea,

My main worry has been where the goals going to come from. Saturday's performance was boringly predictable, and while I was hoping for a McGoldrick and Garner coming of age gala, it never looked likely. I think both players could be out of the door one way or another in the not so distant future and could do with a fresh start somewhere else for their own benefit more than anything. I haven't seen much of Miller or Verhoek, but we have had beat off some pretty stiff competition to sign them (if all goes well today). On the basis of the youtube clips I've seen, I think Verhoek could be immense. He's very quick, excellent touch with both feet and can play on either wing or down the middle. His crossing looks great and his finishing is pretty smart too. I think we still need someone of the calibre of Nicky Maynard, who I think will move before the end of the month. It is rumoured that he is still Mc's no 1 target, and if he turns down a new contract you never know.

I would imagine Bristol City can afford to pay Maynard higher wages than we can so I wouldn't be surprised if he stays. However, going by their result on Sat he might think a drop in wages is worth it to be in a team fighting for promotion.
