So we've had our first taste of how the team will shape up each week.
Having seen Varney & Hunt deployed to work the wider areas and cut inside to support McCormack, do we expect to see any more traditional wingers (i.e. pace & touchline hugging) signed? We have Diouf & Poleon who can also do well in those roles and McCormack could also play the role should Smith start in the middle of the forward line. BM has also spoken of playing White in this area.
For me, I'd still like someone with an explosion of pace as there'll be plenty of games that we'll need it, but we do seem to have plenty of options to play the way BM wants us to.

A few of us commented on Saturday that whilst the performance was on the whole good, we still appear to be missing pace - especially out wide.
Players are having a go in those positions, but are they truly wingers? With a big lump like Smith, surely you need a wide player who can get the ball on to his head. We also need someone who when they run at a defence, causes them to worry.
Adomah is being linked with Boro - i'd have thought someone like that would be ideal - seems we're not able to compete financially which is a shame. Unless of course we're suprised in the next few days/weeks by GFH !

After Saturday's game I think a good centre-back is our priority.

Varney & Hunt can play wide, i thought Varney was very good as a wide forward as was Hunt.
We need at least one winger with some skill who can deliver a cross well to change games.
Most worrying thing for me, was how weak we were at the back, Lees looked poor and can't see him improving much now, he has many games under his belt, Pearce is ok, but lacks intellegence for positioning and Byram was missed for defensive and attacking reasons, Warnock has no pace, but apart from that, he's a good defender and very solid.
