Wondering if any Spurs fans think likewise? I notice a lot of people say things like "imagine what Spurs could do with Β£100M."
For me, the key word in the statement would be 'imagine' because I really don't think there is anything special that Spurs could do with it.
Lets be honest, Bale is without doubt one of the top 10 players in the world, he is arguably the best in England (only RVP comes close for me) and based on 2013, he even put in better performances than Messi (no I am not saying he is better). In my opinion he is worth Β£80M+, maybe going into triple figures is a bit OTT but that's modern football for you these days.
But the thing is, what can Spurs do with all that money? As each passing day goes by, more potential targets are switching from club to club which will make things difficult in itself for Spurs to identify their targets. On top of that, without the lure of Champions League football, it will be very difficult (in my opinion) for Spurs to lure the elite footballers that who may still be on the market (ie Suarez, Di Maria, Fabregas, Rooney, Pepe, etc).
It is all well and good having money sitting in the bank, but are any of the players you can bring in this Summer going to make up for the loss of Bale? I doubt it. Spurs already have a very good team, and are only really lacking in quality at LB and CB, are there any players out there that Spurs fans believe they could only buy should Bale be sold? I could see them maybe going for the likes of Bernard/Osvaldo/Muriel/Muniain + Coentrao + Williams should Bale be sold and then pocketing the remaining Β£30M or so to put towards the new stadium. Would selling Bale be worth it? I don't think so.
Bale is more important to Spurs than £100M+

Also worth noting that that fat waiter Perez has a lot to lose from not signing bale.
He gambled pretty much everything on mourinho being able to topple barca and win their 10th champions league, mourinho managed to alienate the changing room, plenty of Madrid fans and the majority of Spain yet failed to do what he was actually hired to do. Now barca have signed neymar who's a potential superstar on the pitch and also a walking cash cow for them off the pitch. Perez knows he needs a galactico like bale to save face or he knows the Madrid fans will be on his back. We need to play on that desperation

"We need to play on that desperation"
If by "play" you mean Levy leading him on to the point where no sale happens and he gets sacked, fine.

If Levy absolutely had no choice but to sell Bale, i would think he would demand at least £50m up front and the rest within 2 years.
Spurs have already spent £50m. That's another £50m to find a 'replacement' for Bale, another Striker, and a few top CBs. You're seriously in pole position for Top 4 then, at the least.

To be fair he's not worth £100m, but seeing as Real Madrid aka Real Desperate are the potential buyers then I'd milk then for every euro possible....
..... Is there no way we can offer him to PSG for less? £25m and Lucas moura would be quality!

Could see a sale to PSG happening next summer.

I fully expect (and bookmark this) that Levy will string this out with Real, they won't be able to agree on a package and Bale will stay
I really hope Bale is mature enough to get on with the job and give this season 100%

All this going on and ronaldo doesn't appear any closer to signing a new deal. He's one of the few players not shouting from the rooftops to sign bale, probably because he wants the reported fee spent on his alleged demands of 16mill a year NET!
Messi, neymar and barca reign supreme,
Bale stays at spurs,
Ronaldo sulks and leaves for cheap,
Modric watches from the bench,
Perez gets lynched in Madrid,
Perfect scenario for me
