Leeds v Chesterfield Matchday Thread

League Cup Action

Venue...Elland Road .........Kick Off 19:45 WEDNESDAY 7th Aug

Latest Team News...........
Stephen Warnock could be sidelined for the Cup clash with Chesterfield at Elland Road on Wednesday.
The left-back limped out of Saturday's opening day win over Brighton and will be assessed ahead of kick-off.
Adam Drury replaced him on the day and could deputise from the start against the Spireites, while Aidan White provides further options at the back.

Fellow full-back Sam Byram remains unavailable due to a hip problem but El Hadji-Diouf is available again following suspension, but could be limited to playing against Burnley on Weds in a behind closed doors game. Rudy serves his last ban .

Chesterfield will check on defender Liam Cooper ahead of the tie.
Cooper missed Saturday's win at Bury with a side strain and will be assessed ahead of kick-off.
Fellow defender Ian Evatt is unlikely to feature as the former Blackpool man continues to build up his fitness following his summer move.

This is the Spireites first meeting with the Whites since they were beaten 4-0 in the third round of this competition in 1960.
(I'm not very clued up on Chesterfield so i blatantly copied and pasted most of this )

2 be fair we made 7 changes, so this is a fair result given that we aint got quality in depth. If this was a full strength squad then od be worried, but its not.

Re Dubai..I dnt think world football will see another striker that exextravagant.

Did what we had to. Chesterfield were up for this one. Definitely a potential banana skin but we didn't slip on it!

Chesterfield started their season with a 2-0 away win at Bury, so had reason to come here with confidence....

Let's be honest guys - a tough game is exactly what our second string needed anyway; it's a good marker also for McDermott to see what they offer in comparison to Saturday's selection.

I think it's an excellent result all round from McDermott's perspective....
