Basically he says the press are reporting Real are willing to pay big for Bale, but the reality is Real have offered nowhere near that or have the money to do so. Unlike the Ronaldo deal (which the majority was paid up front) they've offered to pay £20 million now and £20 million a season after that and because the full amount of the Modric transfer has yet to paid up, Spurs and Levy will not consider this deal.

He goes on to explain why this would be an terrible deal for Spurs, every club in the world assume they have £85+ million to spend and inflate their prices. In reality Spurs would be left with £20 million to replace Bale, they would need to take out a high interest loan to replace him, something he cant see Daniel Levy being happy with, couple that in with the loss of current exposure and revenue gained with Bale (ie. BT, NBC, Fifa 14 etc.) he thinks it will be a hard deal to get over the line...

He can see him leaving only if Madrid cough up the majority of the transfer fee up front or Spurs get one or two of their players in exchange...
Obviously the interview is more in depth than that, with Gabriele Marcotti constantly interrupting him to point out what a massive club Madrid are.... But that about sums it up. Sort of positive news to hear.
