Striking Options

Good Morning chaps and chapettes,

Obviously the most pressing issue for our club, Champ League Qualifiers aside, is to bring in a new striker.

Over the course of the summer we have lost 3 strikers/forwards Lassad, Miku and most importantly Hooper so far we have only brought in Balde to add to the ranks of Stokes, Watt and Samaras.

Looking at our existing options:
• Stokes is currently our main goal threat for me he is good enough for the SPL but is limited beyond that.
• Samaras has never been a consistent goal scorer and has found his most effective position on the left wing.
• Watt is still very raw and requires a lot of development time this may take place away from the club as part of a loan deal. (Although I would prefer him to stay at Celtic to learn the game)
• Lastly Balde has only had 15 mins of competitive football for Celtic he will need to be judged over the long term.

Ah but some of you might say what about Boerrigter for the purposes of this article I primarily see him as a winger.

As we can see we are extremely thin on striking options even more so on quality striking options. We have been linked with a few guys over the last few weeks although as of yet nothing has come from these transfer rumours. It is my opinion that after tonight, result depending, we will see quick movement made in the transfer front.

I see at least two new strikers being brought into the club with Watt possibly moving out on loan. The quality of these strikers is very much dependant on the level of European football we will be playing this season, everything hinges on Celtic getting a result tonight which is very much a terrifying prospect.
