25-man squad: 17 + 8

With the 25-man squad in mind, below is a list of our current senior professionals (including Capoue).

* If you are to name the full 25, eight of them must be homegrown - this doesn't mean English, but players which have been registered at an English club for 3 seasons between the ages of 16 and 21.

*As many U21s can be named in addition, regardless of nationality/development. If you are 21 or over on January 1 2013 you need to be registered as one of the 25-man squad

* In effect, it means you can only have 17 non-homegrown players in the 25.

* If you have no homegrown players your squad will only have 17 senior players. One homegrown player and it is 18, and so on.

(1) Lloris
(2) Friedel
(3) Gomes

(4) BAE
....................................(1) Rose

....................................(2) Dawson
(5) Kaboul
(6) Vertonghen

....................................(3) Walker
....................................(4) Naughton

(7) Dembele
(8) Sandro
(9) Paulinho
(10) Holtby
(11) Capoue
....................................(5) Huddlestone
....................................(6) Parker
....................................(7) Livermore
....................................(8) Sigurdsson
....................................(9) Bale
(12) Chadli
....................................(10) Lennon
....................................(11) Townsend

(13) Soldado
(14) Adebayor
....................................(12) Defoe

14 Non Homegrown (Non-HG)
12 Homegrown (HG)

* We have a total of 26 players at present. One needs to go for definite as it stands.

* We can only afford to get rid of four HG players. Any more and we trim our potential 25, unless we replace them with other HG players.

* We can only afford three more Non-HG players, unless they replace other Non-HG players.

This isn't personal opinion, it is cold hard fact. Food for thought.

Fryers could essentially become one of the 25 (although not needing registering), meaning a 5th HG player could go. More likely we will sign another CB though, and he will be Non-HG.

The third keeper could be an English youngster too, replacing Gomes.

Carroll could replace one of the English midfileders, although we are well stocked now and need a more attacking player if anything. Probably Non-HG.

Rose - not rated by all
Dawson - not rated by all
Walker - - ALL WOULD KEEP
Naughton - not rated by all
Hudd - most say sell
Parker - most say sell
Bale - ALL WOULD KEEP (MAY BE OFF)
Lennon - ALL WOULD KEEP
Townsend - not rated by all
Siggy Lennon - ALL WOULD KEEP
Livermore - most say sell
Defoe - not rated by all

If Bale leaves, Ince to come in

is this a joke ?

you want ince as our signing to replace bale?

willian or lamela please

No, I don't think we will 'replace' Blae with one player.

As it is we have signed Chadli, and have Townsend back from loan. With the addition of a young English player like Ince that would mean 3 players in for wide positions to Bale's 1. Not that Bale played wide much anyway.

It would also boost our HG quota. You can't just keep buying foreign players - you are only allowed 17 and we are up to 15 as it stands.

Gomes is a possible. But very brave to bring Archer or Miles into the fray.

When did Tottenham sign Blae? I know these transfers can be concluded quickly but I must have missed that one

Just thought I'd chime in - by that definition, Sigurdsson counts as a homegrown player, having come through Reading's youth system.

carroll is just the type of player we need.

it's just a question of whether he is ready (with a slight question as to whether he's good enough).
