The Swiss Ramble strikes again.

http://swissramble.blogspot.ch/2013/08/arsenal-money-dont-matter-2-night.html

Like others I'm feeling pretty good about us atm about both the team and the likelihood of adding to it, but this is a timely reminder that not having bought anyone up to this point is inexplicable and to not spend money at all would be totally unacceptable.

Because we are literally swimming in money.

And exactly what's the point? I have never seen so much fence sitting in my life. He should change his name to Swiss splinter.

He's giving an accountant's take on Arsenal, not a tabloid journalist's. It's not supposed to be controversial.

Swiss Rambler produces these analysis on a fairly regular basis and of course the bank balances are well known from published accounts.

The two main points from the article are that Arsenal have huge financial clout, but unfortunately this has not been reflected until now in transfer market.

Top players go to clubs which are successful and more importantly willing to pay them market rates.

Arsenal have failed to win a major trophy for 8 years
and the salary scales were well short of what is on offer elsewhere.

Nevertheless once Arsenal demonstrate that they can
buy top players and pay them comparable rates to clubs like Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City I am confident that we will become once again a club who
can attract the best.

What was also quite interesting from the report is the
poor financial position of Liverpool. They make large
losses and have very small cash reserves.

For all the rhetoric about keeping Suarez I wonder whether they really can afford to do so if an offer of
£50 million is put on table.

With last year's top contenders having changed manager and foreseeably due for a transitional year, if there was ever any season for Arsenal to break the bank in order to put themselves in a stronger position to challenge for the title, it was this one, but signings are taking so long in coming that it's starting to look like nothing much has changed.

Spot on. We've been given a massive gift by the three clubs above us changing manager this summer, but we haven't taken advantage of it.

This SR piece really highlights what a superb position we are in financially, how we haven't used it I have no idea
