The wait is over..

After many a sleepless night, the wait is over!

The Johnstone's Paint Trophy Round 1 draw has finally been made and Wolves will host Walsall at Molineux the week commencing 2nd September.

What are everyone's views on this tournament? I'd love to see a cup run and we we will obviously be favourites. I personally think we should focus on promotion and not put too much emphasis on this, although it could allow us to maintain momentum providing we don't pick up injuries!

So we will be playing them twice very quickly

An opportunity to give some other players an outing I'd say

I'd agree with that wulfrunnut, maybe give some players a rest but I don't want to see mass overhauls as this can disrupt the teams flow going into the next league game. It's going to be a long season though so will probably need utilise most or all of the squad at some point.

I want us to go all out to win it

wasn't too bothered about an early exit from the league cup as in reality we were never going to win it and highly unlikely to make Wembley. but we do have a very good chance of a day out in London in the JPT and we should have the squad and team to compete in both league and cup.

there is also a massive added boost to morale if we could do the double this year. fans deserve something to remember after two years of misery and an extra incentive for players to stick with the club if they see a trip to Wembley as a possibility.

Wow, to imagine us doing the double this year would almost justify last seasons relegation......a year the fans would never forget as they don't the late 80s campaigns, as opposed to what would likely have been a season of inevitable rebuilding and treading water in the champo.

Statues for deano and stale anyone?

Well it’s not a competition any of us wants to be in but we’re in it so a derby match to kick things off will do nicely.
It’s two rounds in the sections isn’t it? So Shrewsbury in the next round please!

Not been to the new Wembley, not interested in (any) national team so my only chance to go is in this competition.

Many great memories as a Wolves supporter and being in one of the biggest away followings in british football history was fantastic when we beat Burnley in the final of this competition. I dare say the crowds in the early rounds of the competition will be poor but of we get to the semis and final then there will be loads coming out of the woodwork for a day at Wembley
