1. Gone in with a straight £50m offer for Suarez
2. Paid Gustavo as much as he wanted to come to us
3. Signed either Cesar or Begovic
4. Gone all out to sign Sakho from PSG
4 things that should've been done

"But could a bid of 41 or 42 not been made regardless?"
So that's where class kicks in? How about 45 or 46. 79 would've been really classy.
Why pay more than you're told he is purchasable for.
"The £1 bit really showed the club to be utterly classless."
Utter rubbish. Genuine nonsense.

"i knew the clause was just to inform Suarez that a club had come in for & Liverpool were not obligated to sell him. Why didnt the Arsenal representatives know this??"
Good for you.

That's what I'm saying, if we'd have gone in with a 50m bid, we'd have stood a good chance of signing him instead of sitting here now debating a clause that doesn't actually exist, along with the club being the laughing stock of English football.

So you're expecting the club to act on information they didn't have at the time?
This conversation is nonsense, anyone advocating paying more than the minimum Arsenal would told would secure the player is completely and utterly devoid of common sense.
In hindsight it's unfortunate the info was wrong but you don't throw away £10m when you're told you don't need to.
"along with the club being the laughing stock of English football."
Nonsense. Club bid for player, bid is rejected, happens daily in a transfer window.
I get it, everyone is p1ssed that nothing has materialised in the window so far, so am I.
But when it comes to the Saurez £40m+1 bid they did nothing wrong. They acted on what they believed to be fact.

So irrespective the information available at the time bid an additional £10m more, just in the hope that LFC would sell. That is not how business works.
If AFC really wanted him they could have increased their bid (and might yet) but just throwing money around (despite the club’s short fallings) is not the way forward.

We have (estimated) between £130m and £180m availble should it be “required” so £50m for Suarez is a drop in the ocean.
___
i doubt those figures but regardless we wont spend 50m this transfer window

The club have fecked up any chance of signing him after that +£1 debacle.
An opening offer of £45m would have been the safe thing to do.

"An opening offer of £45m would have been the safe thing to do."
So now it should've been £45m.
Absurd, absolutely absurd.
Are you listening at all?
They can only act on what they know.
They thought as they were told £45m was as safe as £40m+1.
I don't understand how you're expecting them to make choices on what to do using info they don't have.
This is done, I'm at a loss, you're either too stubborn or simply don't have a clue what you're talking about.

1. Do you really seriously think we were in for Suarez>? who knows it was only a stunt?
2. Irrespective how much we offering to club or player, Gustavo may be wanted to play and stay only in Germany?
3. Stoke won't sale Begovic, Utd. would have got him or for that matter L'pool before us. Don't know about Cesar.
4. Arsenal in recent past haven't signed anyone which we fans wanted at the club. Arshavin is an exception I guess. They have always given us strange surprised likes of Squillaci, Giroud, Chamakh, Monreal etc. irrespective of how they turned out.
