Martinez has already stated he was so pleased that no one would be able to get Fellaini for the release clause amount and we have already had a bid of 12m turned down for Baines

Agreed but the bids were designed to unsettle the players to make them force the clubs hand. If we went in with 35m, they would still reject it and demand more.
