My issue is, we don't actually need Usmanov's money to be a World Class side, we just need to use the money we have/generate. To become a sugar daddy team would be pretty hypocritical and I personally would rather see us relegated than do that (I don't want us relegated, I just feel that strongly about what matters to me in Football). Arsenal ARE better than that, we have the potential to be a truly great club off our own back but due to various aspects of mismanagement from top to bottom we are currently jeopardizing that.
Our club have actually done very well to maximize it's income recently and Gazidas has clearly played his part in that and he deserves credit... the FACKING ISSUE IS that the bloke has no clue about football. That's Wenger's job and he's just not doing it.
However, if our owner/board/chief-exec wanted Wenger to spend so badly and he was refusing then he'd have been sacked - he hasn't been sacked, in fact there's a new contract offer on the table.
The whole lot don't know how to do it on the pitch or what it means to maximize your footballing potential, that's the problem. Wenger is to blame for many issues, Díck Law and Gazidas are too and Stan Kroenke is one of the worst things to happen to our club.
IMO that's the issue, we have so many failings right now that Usmanov, who's saying all the right things, seems like a way out. The truth is he might be but he could also be a very dangerous person to have at Arsenal. By all means let him on the board, hopefully he'll stir things up but the power should not be with one person, the power should be with football people and most importantly the supporters.
Usmanov love, a product of fan desperation.

OP
Are you referring to Arsenal FC or Arsenal PLC? I get confused sometimes.

Yeah if we actually reinvested the cash we have we without going crazy with it we would be self sufficient and challenging.
To come out with the cràp about our financial firepower at the start of the summer and ridding ourselves of the deadwood and then fail to make a signing until a last min trolley dash is unforgivable. What's the point in getting rid of the cràppy players to replace the. With more cràp?

"We're now reduced to the transfer window equivalent of a Christmas Eve dash around the local BP garage. Come transfer deadline day we'll have the footballing equivalent of two Pot Noodles, a bunch of flowers and a copy of Razzle"
....or so I hear.

football clubs have always had rich benefactors...e.g henry Norris
my only doubt about usmanov is how he made his billions...wouldn't be comfortable with that.
having said that do you think city fans care about the Saudis or that thai bloke?
not at all

Arsenal are broken at the moment.
Not working properly.
The only thing they seem to be good at is hiding what is really going on which is why Usmanov is being seen by some as the lesser of two evils. From all appearances Kronke must be taking a lot of money out of the club and the fact that the boards payments are lumped in with "football costs" hides a lot if it.

I'm quite surprised there hasn't been the another opportunistic open letter from Usmanov like the one he sent last year around the RVP debacle.

^ I bet there will be come the end of the transfer window if we still haven't invested.
For me, I don't want Usmanov running the club, and in fact I'm quite uncomfortable with how much of a stake he already owns. Similar to how I don't want Suarez playing for the club. I think I'd rather we were shít.

People are saying bring back Dein and bring in Usmanov because they don't want to say get rid of Wenger.
Kroenke, despite being a terrible owner, seems to be the main scapegoat after our defeat to Villa, despite having nothing to do with that match or the terrible Summer prior to it.
Get rid of him and bring in Usmanov by all means. I am all for it, Usmanov is an Arsenal fan and wants what is best for the club. But lets not pretend his presence would have changed anything. Arsene would have gone down the current route regardless of who was in charge. I suppose the only difference is Usmanov would have sacked him or at least relieved him of all the power he currently has.
