Meh I wouldn't panic too early but you never know

He was considered a hot prospect at Sevilla, but got overshadowed by Puerta (RIP). Seems to have gone off the radar a bit, and hasn't made the impression he was expected to with the national side.

If I'm not mistaken we were strongly linked with him when he was at Sevilla, Wenger liked him back then so this wouldn't surprise me.

I seem to recall us being linked with a Sevilla player as well, but I suspect (I'm guessing, anyway) that you're thinking of Puerta.

I've always been a fan of Capel, and wanted us to sign him when he was at Sevilla.
I saw a few games of him at Sporting last season (Europa League) and he still looked like a very talented player; quick, skillful, and a very good work-rate.
All the focus seems to have been on the need for a new striker, but I think a lack of directness down the flanks has been a real problem for us, and the injury to Chamberlain will only exacerbate that.
He may not be the high-profile player the fans crave, but Capel could help provide some balance to our attacking play.

The only problem I have with this deal is, do we really need another left-footer?
Personally, I think the right was a bigger issue last season - there was a lot of focus on Walcott's goals, but his all-round play probably hindered Arsenal as much as his goals helped - and even then, his tendency to veer between good and abysmal means we should really be questioning his credentials as a first team player, in my opinion.

Distinctly average.

KPPR, Capel actually played a lot down the right-flank for Sporting last season, playing a role similar to Robben.

Excuse me Arsenal, but the season has already started. The time for signing new and better players was during the off-season.
Mr. Wenger, your plane is boarding!
