Obertan SOLD!

to Newcastle United. 5 year deal.

Any one got anything to say on this?

Part of me doesn't want Sneijder. World class player and would be a joy to watch, but I think we're more than strong enough to compete on all fronts for trophies. Our 2nd team is the strongest in world, so we have tobe massive favourites for the League Cup. We're clear favourites of the PL and rightly so. If we get off to a good start and Fergie bloods the youngesters properly, as only he can, we'll have far and away the most strength in depth. Our first 11 and bench i'd back against any one but Barca. All in all, although if we signed him i'd be over the moon, I don't think he'll be the difference between us losing to Barca and beating them. Individuals don't win against this Barcalona, just ask Real Madrid. And in the end, isn't that why everyone wants us to get him? To help beat Barca?

For my money, stick to our roots and give the boys Cleverley and Anderson to step up in Scholes absence. Fergie gave youth a chance once before and it gave us the greatest team British football has ever seen.

Best of luck, Gabby!

Delighted we recouped our transfer! He could turn out to be Keith Gillespie Mk II

Can't really understand the people that say good riddance, its not as if he did anything bad towards united and had only good things to say about his time at the club on joining newcastle.

There was no place for him at United, hence a good transfer...All luck to him except when playing us...

Good luck to the lad. It didn't work out with us, hopefully he can forge a career elsewehere.

Just had a thought, imagine if he turns into the next superstar, the people who were slating him will suddenly slate SAF for letting him go. Just like Forlan.

Football fans, truly fickle bunch

I'm a little bit gutted we didn't give him more time tbh. He had a good preseason last year and then got injured and didn't really recover. Seems to have had a decent preseason again this year so I was looking forward to seeing him a little bit more. We don't seem to have given him the time we gave Nani for example.

Hopefully it works out for the lad, seems like he just wanted to play a bit more regularly. Should have been on loan last season in my opinion, it seems to have done the other youngsters the world of good.

I wish him all the best. Looked good pre-season but didn't cut it. I hope he does go and do well there, in fact I'm sure he will. It's rare SAF spots a duffer so he has the talent and I'm sure will show it at Newcastle. Shame to see him go but we are over-stocked with wingers now.
