I remember saying on the old 606 that I had this belief Celtic were better having a manager who played in a winning/generally dominant Celtic team (like a Lennon or Lambert) than someone who played on losing Celtic teams (like a Mowbray or Collins). I still maintain there's something in that...

Hartley

Brady was a winner as a (non celtic) player, as was Macari and Barnes...

Strachan was Celtic successful but didn't bring 'us' along with him, TB was unsuccessful but had 'us' Wenger-esque devoted...

Curly, It's unlikely your team - Rangers FC - would have 5 managers given they were only formed last year!!!

Technically, of course, Jimmy McStay (1940-45) didn't win a major trophy either - however competition affectively suspended due to WW2...I thought it would be harsh to include him plus it would have forked up the star/poll system...

Only 5

I'd say Mowbray was definately the worse.

Celtic had severe problems between 1991-2000 so Brady, Macari, Venglos and Barnes were all victims of the era to a certain extent.

In contrast, 2000-2009 was a very successful period of Celtic's history thanks to O'Neill and Strachan - so Mowbray inherited a club in 09/10 now confident each season of winning the trophies and he brought it backwards...

Thankfully - Lennon has now brought the dominance back and so the Mowbray era stands out as 1 really bleak season in the last 14 or so!!

Did macari not want to work part time or something?
and not want to turn up at training so he could play golf? Sure I read that somewhere
