i know im going to gey barrated for this but hopefully some ppl would see my point.
i think we do need to buy a striker, but i think we should buy a striker to back Giroud and not one to replace him (at least not one to permanently bench him)
He has bags of quality and hes only played one season in a high profile league and hes been really good, now add the fact that hes still just finally adapting, i can only see him getting better. his team work is exceptional and loads of other abilities.
He reminds me of the Koscielny when he arrived, bags of potential rough around the edges but now hes exceptional.
He will without a doubt get goals but we should get someone for the rough months
Giroud

Giroud is maximum a 20 goal season striker, you can't challenge for the title with that

11 in 34 in the league last season.
Hardly top class.

Better than Drogba or Henry in their first seasons.
I think he'll really improve this year

A sp¥d called him the French Andy Carroll the other day. they have a point.
Giroud is a good striker but that is all. I think that a club like Arsenal should have a WC striker though, and he is not one. He would be a good player for a mid table club.

Better than Henry's first season at Arsenal? Well that's a lie, not to mention the comparison between the pair is a completely ridiculous one anyway. A simple eye test will tell you that Giroud brings no where near what even a raw, yet to be deployed as a striker, Thierry Henry brought with him in 1999.

I wouldn't mind keeping him 1st choice if we got Ozil and Di Maria. At least then we would create enough chances to mask over his poor conversion ratio.
But that isn't going to happen. We desperately need a world class striker. Unfortunately for us, the only one out there who MIGHT be available is Rooney.

Because they are both big and brown haired?
Carroll is a very different player. He's a bully, he'll get stuck him, he's very strong, good with his head.
Giroud is weaker, but probably slightly better technically.
