Sky sources: Wayne Rooney will not hand in a transfer request #SSN

posted on 27/8/13

Saying that every report of him wanting to leave is false is akin to saying that you believe he wants to stay
-----------------------
i haven't said the reports are false or that Rooney wants to stay

I have said I believe then to be false because they are not based on any direct quote from the player or the club

I've lost count of the number of times I have said this but all I have done is kept an open mind about a player that has done an awful lot for United and I have also kept an open mind to the possibility Fergie might have stitched him o a degree. It is certainly not something I am stating as factual and suggesting it as a possibility based on the fact Fergie could be a cantankerous bitter twisted fella when he wanted to be

I'll say again though

It's just a possibilty and an opinion of mine and nothing more

No but from Ferguson who was manager at the time!

Loz

I have given an opinion on that fact.

Whether he did want to leave or not, the reasons why may now not exist due to the retirement of Fergie

It's also not beyond the realms of possibility that Fergie stitched him. (Just saying it's a possibility and not stating that as fact)

I am interested by what Mourinho said after the game, in terms of Rooney telling someone" very important in his career" that he wanted a move. Just wondering who that might be!

Some of the Rooney haters state everything they read in the paper as factual

Tis why I have a couple filtered,

I have a strong belief that Roo had issues (and could actually still have some) but would rather stay if the issues he has can be sorted whatever they are/were

I don't believe for 1 minute though that Roo hasn't put in transfer request just because he doesn't want to lose a few quid in loyalty bonuses.

As for this new story about him now not putting in a transfer request. Yet again, there is not one creditable source for this story either.

Wayne Rooney sells papers so they gotta print something

TBH I was always pretty sure Rooney was staying...

Just don't understand exactly what went on between SAF and Rooney as they both seemed to have different conversations with each other than the other person did...

Looking forward to Rooney with a bit more match fitness now... him and RVP up front is the best attack in the league IMO.

Macca,

Everything I've read says that Roo will not submit a formal transfer request. I also believe that he won't do this simply because he would have done so by now if he had intended to.

I also don't believe the reason is to save money on loyalty bonus etc. I think it is more a case of not wanting to submit a formal request because he would then have burnt his bridges if the club subsequently refused to sell him.

In this way I think he has been hedging his bets all summer. I.e. he has always wanted to leave but won't risk angering the fans by making this clear just in case he does not get his wish (which he won't).

I also think that Jose is being an idiot about the whole thing. If Chelsea had bid a sensible fee for Roo then Roo might have been in a position to force through a move. However, with Chesea having offered a derisory fee (which is nowhere near the amount that United might accept) it is out of order to expect Roo to try to force a move which will clearly never happen at the price Chelsea have bid.

Fair enough Misty

I just think there has been issues and some of them may yet to be sorted

I genuinely don't think he has any desire to really leave United, move house etc, if any issues he has can be ironed out

This isn't pandering to Rooney. It's Rooney simply making a decision about his future based on what he himself wants. We all have that right
