Biggest Club in London

Like the title suggests, obviously it's between us and the Arsenal but do we edge it because of our champions league success and recent trophies or do they because they've won triple our league successes albeit it since they last won the league we have won 3... Genuine Chelsea and Gooners please, No Spurs either this debate certainly doesn't concern you.

Chelsea , big club.. I still remember them when they were promoted. I suspect Hull will bag themselves a sugar daddy soon with proceeds from dodgy dealings and call themselves a big club

Who had Bale to post first in the "I'm a $pud co ck" sweepstake?

Biggest Club in London - seems to me, to be always a subject debated by people who can't remember the days going back to the 60s and 70s and beyond when Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs had ground capacities of around 60,000 and more and capable of filling them.

There was not much between them in days gone by in terms of fanbases, Arsenals benefited from their success of the 80's and 90's and are now a bigger than both Chelsea and Spurs on the back of it, whereas Chelsea suffered in attracting young fans in the 70's and 80's due to struggling mostly in the old 2nd Division over a period of nearly 15 years.

Both Chelsea and Spurs are restricted by ground capacity to match Arsenals claim to be the biggest London club.

But my main question is - wtf does it matter? If you're totally in love with your club the size is immaterial surely??

Bluee, you have put me in the position of sticking up for Spurs. They do have an illustrious history on the basis of winning the Double in 1961, a far greater achievement than Arsenal or Chelsea's recent Doubles.Teams played their best sides in the FA Cup and pitches were bad in winter, which evened things up. No one had done that in the 20th century till then. Also they were the 1st British side to win a European trophy. I am not sure how you can compare West Ham and Charlton to them unless you think West Ham won the World Cup for England !

I became aware of football in the late 60's and Spurs for about 30 years had a better or less worse team than Chelsea You are right that Chelsea were relatively successful in the late 90's till Abramovich came along but you ended up with financial problems. As an aside I loved watching the Chelsea of the early 70's.

I am not surprised Chelsea have been successful the last 10 years. You should have won more in my view with the financial power you had. It actually pleases me in a perverse way that Chelsea had to lose over 100 mil to overtake Arsenal. We have seen with Man City and PSG that Chelsea are not the only team to win domestic titles going down the same route.

Arsenal are still the biggest Club in London for me, even as a Blue through-and-through.

However, we are coming up fast on the rails and thirty years from now the landscape could look very different and we could be the top dogs in the smoke.
