I have changed the article in order to get a proper response.
With 4 days to go, and maybe even with january in mind,
Considering we need a Centre Back and we need a Winger, who would we realistically want if the 30 mil is a real amount of money and not a claim we keep making. Lets make the amount 35 cause we hadnt sold downing yet.
Centre Back:
I would have said Howedes for a large part last night but then schalke qualified for champions league proper so he wont come.
Papa, class player, questionable injury or keeping him out of the picture until the end of the window?
Sakho, looks like the press' favourite name at the moment for us, for in a straight race between us and ac milan, not sure.
Winger:
Muniain is still my favourite option and has been all summer, despite noone reporting it, especially now that hes lost form. He plays at a spanish club so he has a buy out to force the issue (believe it is 29 mil).
I wont say anything about yarmolenko and kono thingy cause i dont play fm, which is probs where everyone has signed them cause i assume people dont watch Dynamo Kyev and Dnipro respectively, and from what i saw against england, yarmolenko seemed to love to run himself into a dead end.
Eriksen could have been an option and then put coutinho wide but it looks like we have handed him to spurs as well.
Lamela, i personally dont really rate, but people seem to keep bringing him up so ill include him here.
Any other suggestions that can be pulled off in 4 days i will add on.
Please no victor moses. Big fish small pond at wigan, and at chelsea hes been shown up.
Is there any player people think we could go for in january like we went back for sturridge.
I would interested to see if we go back for diego costa, dcause depending on how atletico are doing, we might be able to get him then (yes i know he signed a new contract a fortnight ago, but we all know how little contracts mean these days in football).
4 Days left and maybe January

Negativity on here is unreal. You thought it would have been two loses, out of the Carling Cup and Sturridge injured last night.

righteous, thank you for your honesty.
im not being negative. I have just had enough of watching my team and feel happy during the game cause we win, and then frustrated cause theres so much that needs doing.
the manager is doing his part extremely well...
the players are playing his way and for him, he is identifying players he would like, and not just 1 or 2, but then there seems to a breakdown in most other things.
Yes, great sponsor deals. yes great marketting push. yes great interraction with fans through various media, which wasnt happening before, but the bread and butter is not being done. the players the manager wants are not being brought in, and noone knows where we stand with the stadium.

The players we know we have contacted (that's not including the ones we don't know about) have either been bought by someone bigger with more money (Chelsea or Dortmund) or stuck with their club (Madrid), so you can't really blame the owners. They are clearly willing to spend the money.

Really worried we won't get any new faces in before the window shuts. If anyone it'll be Moses on a loan and that's it. Desperately disappointing window, not good enough. Clearly no lessons have been learnt from last summer.

How do you know Moses is the only player we are potentially gonna get? You don't know anything about who were looking at.

its looking the most plausible option-unfortunately.
and as little as we know about who we will be getting, the same can be said about you knowing if we really have been given the money to spend (we as in Buck).

==========
I'm intrigued, what lessons could have been learnt from last year to make our targets choose us over Dortmond, Chelsea and staying with Madrid?
We were ambitious with our targets (not the case last year) and as such were vulnerable to bigger offers or clubs that can currently offer more.

I agree sterling with regards to the fact that this year we went for more ambitious targets and lost out and that is a different situation to last year.
We did learn however to move EARLIER. And we did that with alberto, aspas, toure and mignolet.
However there surely should have been more than 1 negotiation going on at the same time.
Lets assume that our targets, in order were:
Eriksen
Mkhi
Diego Costa
Willian
Eriksen noone knows what happened so we shall ignore that.
When starting to talk about Mkhi, we should have been talking about Diego Costa and Willian at the same time. Not at advanced stages but spoken to the clubs at the same time.
We can pull out of a transfer at any time if we see we are about to sign X or Y, but going after each one one after the other, we lose time.
Also, should the Mkhi deal fall apart, youre already in negotiations with diego costa, and start talking with willian, before others have the chance to.
If willian was on the list as 3rd option, why did we take until august to talk to him?

The window hasn't closed yet. It's perfectly normal for deals to be done in the latter stages of a transfer window.
If it closes and we haven't brought in the players the manager has said we need, then is the time to ask questions.
We've started well, but losing Toure was a bit of a kidney shot.
Anyone have any news on the extent of the injury?

Eriksen is overrated, that's why nothing ever came of the 'interest' despite fans crying for him. Willian didn't become available until the Anzhi owner's financial troubles, so I honestly don't know what more you think we could have done with any of these.
