I'm pretty sure if we fail to challenge for trophies this season the likes of Koscielny and Cazorla will seek moves elsewhere. That's what I'm worried about more than anything. I admit, the board has done well to have no first team departures, but we could face a summer 2011 style exodus if we have a similar season to last, I fear.
4 days and a bit to go.
Players will leave

Sagna has done well at Centre BAC but koscielny is on another level.

Was thinking that but feel sorry for Jenkinson who will be dropped as he's done nothing wrong tbf.

Penguin the difference is normally we have a great first XI and some cakc after that. Now we have a great first XI and nobody after that, having released the cack.
We are at a stage where Gervinho and Coquelin would improve our squad.

Gervinho and Coquelin should be in the squad. They're not terrible players. Coquelin would be quite useful at the moment, and Gervinho was actually showing signs of being a decent player at the end of 12-13

Where is COQ now, is he on loan? Was impressive in the fb position a few seasons ago.

I take it nobody is buying my 'we need to make a profit in the transfer window' theory?!?!

True Penguin but isn't it a pretty damning indictment of the current squad when we agree that Gervinho and Coquelin would improve it?

HUNTING FOR GLORY
To what end? We have been making (operational) profits for years and the monies have not been reinvested but stockpiled into a cash reserve.
There is no business requirement for the club to make a profit on player sales.

Oh I agree. Alex Song was crap - selling him wasn't the failure, not buying a DM with the money was.

At what would Stuart do:
Its just my theory:
But if we look back at the last few years we have always bought players but as we all know, we have also always sold players and at the end of the transfer window, we end up with a profit from sales.
Thus far this season we have made a profit of about £10M, which isn't enough to buy anyone significant and still leave us with a profit.
This i believe is the reason we are yet to spend a penny.
What do you think?!?
