Makes sense to me. It's said he's going to be pretty good, so bring him in as cover for Agger and Toure. He'll be happier than someone like Sakho would be sitting on the bench....

Varane has 2 good games against a Barca side that wasnt at their best last season.

He's not all he's made out to be.

I'm guessing it will be £8m after add on's.

It's a high risk signing for someone raw. He could turn out to be a gem or another Coates. Another £4m could have got us Sakho.

Personally I don't buy this getting someone who is happy on the bench. We were told first team players and Illori won't be that for the time being.

Varane is a revelation and was consistently excellent when he broke into the team and maintained it.
