Ramires

Ramires is world class, the rest of our midfield is functional at best.

Apparently two red cards in two seasons makes a ball winning midfielder a liability, in spite of the countless games he has won for us in that time.

Think of all the stupid yellows that put him on a tightrope all the time.

He's not world class, he's a very good player, I love him but you can't ignore the fact he's a magnet for yellow cards - must of them justified!

He has won a lot of games for us and i am a fan of him. I just thought that we should of taken him off as he did look tired

Ramires is not world class. That's a silly thing to say.
Should be a squad player at best. Passing range pretty poor, first touch poor, limited with what he can do with the ball, does offer a goal threat now and again, has good stamina. Runs all day long. Clumsy when tackling though. Mistimes it often. That does not spell world class to me.

He only runs around a lot to mask his technical deficiencies with the ball. A better version of Scott Parker.

World class is overused to often Mr'C', when I think of world class I think of Ronaldo, Messi, Cruyff, Best and players of that ilk.

As much as like him, he comes no where near that!

I was going to include Platini in that list but I couldn't bring myself to mention the

World class, for me, means that you have a set of skills that few, if any can match in world football. Ramires' tackling, energy, acceleration is unparalleled. That goal against Barce, where he won the ball deep in our half, then all of a sudden was our furthest guy forward, is a prime example. Such skills are unique. Toure comes close (I'd say he was WC too). Dunga for Brazil utilised Ramires' potential to effectively balance a lopsided Brazil. He was effectively playing two positions. No one else in world football could do that so sucessfully. Suspended against Holland, Dunga cited this as the main reason for their exit.

That's fair enough but put those skills up against his weaknesses and it doesnt add up to being a world class player imo. His tackling is not the best. Yes he does make interceptions but the ones he completely mistimes, they're horrible to rewatch. He just clatters into the player as if he has no control over himself. Yes he does have energy and acceleration. This just typifies the type of player he is. An industrious player. Dont like him part of our team at all. I guess I have to put it up with it though.
