Afternoon guys,
Was just thinking a minute ago that we've now (hopefully) solved the creativity problem with the signings of Lamela & Eriksen. Now, I'm not sure how quick Lamela & Eriksen are, but is there a danger of us losing our pace & counter attacking ability, in return for creativity?
I know we have pace in the team with the likes of Lennon & Townsend, so I suppose it's a question of how often these play. Which begs the question, how are we going to line up with these players? What is very handy is having Lennon & Townsend to bring on when the opposition are tired.
We have Eriksen who I think will either play as AM or LM. If it's AM, then that leaves two spots for Paulinho, Sandro, Dembele & Capoue to compete for, then Chadli & Townsend competing for LM. I think it's pretty nailed on that Lamela will come in off the right.
Your thoughts?
Pace Vs Creativity

Lamela is quick but not Bale quick, Eriksen isn't that quick but also isn't as immobile as someone like VDV.
Overall I'd rather we have players with quick footballing brains and intelligence (which Eriksen and Lamela seem to have) than players who simply rely on blistering pace.

Eriksen is deceptively quick.

Well that's assuming they walk there way into certain starting places - I wouldn't be so sure, especially in their early days at the club while they're still adjusting. If they're as good as we all seem to think they are, they'll make the positions their own, but until then I'd expect the other lads to fight them tooth and nail for a spot in the team

Lamela is not at all like Bale, he won't run at players or hug the line, he'll cut inside and float across the line. He's a similar player to a young RVP

Lamela is a better ball player than Bale, much better close control. He is quick, just not as quick as GB, then again few are!
Eriksen is deceptively quick & has a sharp football brain seeing things before others. Both excellent additions to the club!
