What has been abundantly clear during this transfer window is that the
club's transfer negotiating skills are grossly inadequate.
Whatever spin the club or Wenger try to say to justify their shortcomings the house needs to be put in order and never repeated again.
Wenger may suggest that other clubs are in a similar situation but that is
rubbish. The amount of money which has been spent in this window is massive and approaching £2 billion. Our contribution as one of the wealthiest clubs in the business is a zero.
I might accept the situation if we have a strong team/squad and had performed better last season, but that is not the case.
We need to recruit a top class Football Director as Spurs have done and
take all negotiations out of the hands of Wenger,Gazidis and Laws. I have
no problem with Wenger making recommendations but the final negotiations including fee plus wages to be paid should not be handled
by him.
The bottom line is that is highly unlikely that the club will strengthen the squad in the next 48 hours. That is going to be a massive disappointment
to most supporters.
Wenger's future at the club should now depend on how the team performs
this season. If he fails to qualify for Champions League or misses out on
trophy then his contract must not be renewed.

Sir Digby
Who do you suggest that we are going to buy?
Most of the top players will be leaving their clubs after
tomorrow's games and joining their national squads
in advance of World Cup Qualifiers and Internationals.
Do you believe that we are going to be able to complete formalities in such a short time? I think not.
Yes he may bring in a couple of squad fillers like he
has done with Flamini, but I don't see us spending
big money on a world class player. It is too late.

Its not too late at all, deal will already be almost completed. Just need the final few signatures.

Please give me the names of these major signings. I
will be very surprised if Ozil,Di Maria or Benzema are
coming.
Frankly I don't see the club spending £40 million let
alone £60 million on Drexler a 19 year old.
That is pure moonshine.

such a stupid article.
Do you actually think it is Wenger on his own sitting with a load of agents doing negotiations
Wengers job is to manage the team he is not a negotiator, people are paid money for that job.
idiot
Also if you dont think we are making big signings this season then you are a lost cause.
Everyone is praising spurs, when they have literally just gone scattergun buying every player they knew was avalaible. What team buys 7 players all at once? It will take forever for that teeam to settle.

The Godfather
I suggest that you read what I wrote. The negotiations
are conducted collectively by Wenger,Gazidis and Laws, BUT it is Wenger who identifies players and sets transfer fee and wage threshold.
How Wenger plans transfers is ludicrous and was
clearly demonstrated by what went on this year in
his pursuit of strikers. In January he wanted to buy
Villa and he had still opportunity to do so in summer
because Villa wanted to come to London.
Then he changed his mind when transfer window opened and went after Jovetic. However, he changed
his mind again and went after Higuain and had agreed to buy him. Finally he changed his mind again and went after Suarez.
What was interesting is that Higuain delayed signing
for Napoli for several days because he thought that
Arsenal would come back.
It is this decision making which has proved disastrous
and cost us some good and urgently needed players.
My point about Spurs Football Director was not so much about the players that that club bought, but how
transfers were transacted and completed.
Clubs who employ Football Directors are far more
efficient in this matter.
