Liverpool proved.....

yesterday that Manchester United are no where near the level they were at last season and that they were there for the taking on Monday.

I know it sounds a little spoilt that I am complaining about only getting 1 point at the home of the Champions but I feel if we had gone there with the intention to win we could of bagged three points there.

I know they had Rooney missing today and that is a big loss for them but lets be honest if RVP isn't scoring United will struggle.

I would say it was an error by Jose not to go all out against them at least at the start.

Kings.....unites are a very good team, but yes they are overdependent on RVP

what i can't agree with is this continous criticism over our tactics when we played United because the facts are as follows:

It was the third game of the season
We were playing away from home at the Champions
We set up to play counter atatck which plays to our strengths, just as we did against Bayern
United played incredibly cautiously, theye were aware of our counter attack threat and never pushed their full backs on, hence they cancelled us out
We had no need to risk losing the game to a rival so early in the season and immediatly play cath up football
Look what happened when we lostearly to United last season
We now have a two point advantage over United already

Jose knows what he is doing, has our young team lost to United early on it would have been a blow, we were spot on with our tactics it was just a shame United were so frightened of us on the counter, plus we passed the ball like cretins, that is not Jose's fault.

Who cares you say he failed in La Liga but holds nearly all the records in one season. Like most point most goals and so forth.

Biggish

I think the way we've set up in our opening 3 games, was with the Bayern match in mind. I think Jose was focused on that regardless of what he says. He desperately wanted to win it. Hence in the inclusion of Schurrle in our starting line ups to counter the threat from the wings from Bayern. We played a withdrawn game in our opening PL games. Jose wanted to the team to defend deliberately imo just like we would be doing against Bayern. That's what I think anyway.

All I know is Mr C is that we look ten times better than at ant time last season, i now feel like we are a team who can take the lead and keep it and and no time last season did i feel that.............only amazing teams like Bayern can come back at us and only just at that, we are on the way back up as far as I am cocerned, just need a decent striker

Biggish we've improved our off the ball work. Its gone up a few levels. That's why you're seeing the defensive mor resolute performances .When possession is conceded, everyone knows where to run to, to regain the defensive shape. Still not perfect though. What is more or less the same is our attacking efficiency. Its stil poor. Stil got some very young players upfront.

yes, well we went for Falcao, Cavani, Drogba, Rooney and ended up with Eto...........this is the glaringly obvious weak point of our squad and actually why Jose needs to find a place for Mata in our team because he at least has 12 to 15 PL goals in him...

United looked poor for the majority of last season. Outplayed even quite often.

but they won a lot of those 1-0 or came back and nicked a 1 goal win from behind.

Play Mata up front Michel Owen style striker.

I wasn't criticising Jose's tactics but I have the right to question if they were the right course of action. The way United looked when facing us and Liverpool yesterday I am pretty sure we would of got three points had we really gone for it.

Why Jose went defensive:-

-Man City lost so neither team wanted to lose, this way both gain a small advantage over City rather than one gains a big lead on the other two.

-One eye on Friday's game against Pep.

-Recent times when we play United we normally concede one or two goals in the opening ten minutes. This ensured we don't give them any head start.

There is nothing wrong with questioning his tactics,he is fas from perfect..............but I really don't think he did anything wrong setting up to play counter attack away at OT.........we didn't have to win the match but it would have been a massive blow had we lost, just as it proved last season. He set us up the best he could for not to lose but win on the counter, unfortunatley two things happened.....we played badly with our passing so we never a threat on the counter and United kept their full backs deep so there was no space on the break.
