We really wanted Thiago Silva or David Luiz but didn't have a back up plan when they were unavailable. We only signed Neymar to keep him out of Madrid's hands and then they desperately paid double for Bale. I think Madrid's Galactico policy has actually made our dometic position stronger but our failure to balance our squad has made us weaker in comparison to Bayern, Bayer, PSG, Chelsea etc.

This article is spot on. Pique is not good enough imo and another commanding centre half such as T. Silva would get them far this season. Saw them against Valencia yesterday and their attacking play was frightening at times with Neymar and Messi. But on the other side of the pitch, Pique was a joke and responsible for both of Postiga's goals although the first was a spectacular strike

Don't think you can blame Pique, he's a very good defender but who are we pairing him with? Mascherano, Song and some youngsters, it's a joke, especially as our full backs play as wingers. Alves is the one letting us down most.

To be honest I don't rate pique and it's unlikely I ever will. Just my opinion. Is a bit slow and always prone to mistakes whenever I watch him. However its no secret that yes Barca do need to stop pairing him with Masch or Song if they want a better defence
