If we were to consider the best case scenario at present, it would have included all of the above mentioned players, along Gareth Bale staying. This would have made us contenders I believe, as 20 goals plus from a non-striker would have made a significant difference (stating the obvious I know). However, despite previous optimism, I am now sure that our acquisitions were all done with selling Bale in mind. Once Bale's head was turned, we did our best under the circumstances, to soften the blow and build a strong squad. Also, the worst case scenario would have probably seen us selling Bale and buying no replacements in the transfer window or buying poor replacements for that matter for e.g. the likes of Gregorz Rasiak, Andy Booth, Louse Saha, Ryan Nelson etc, come to mind.
I believe we've addressed all the 'primary priority positions' that needed enforcing. In previous windows we have been left distraught that the areas of weakness were not improved. 'Secondary priority positions' which required attention, as you all have mentioned, are probably concerning the left back spot along with a further striker, but nevertheless, I think we have enough to last us till January at least. We already have 6 points on the board, having played Arsenal away, which is better than last season already. And from what I believe, we have made a little profit on our sales vs acquisitions this window!
I am confident we can put up a good show on all fronts this season, and if we are there or there abouts come January, it would take the acquiring of just one marquee player to make that difference to the current squad we have.
It was sad to see Bale don the shirt of another club I must confess, but we have to move on. Spurs as a club and brand are growing, and hopefully with the new stadium around the corner, and whilst already possessing one of the best training facilities in the world, along with the development of our young players, the future can only get even brighter!
Bright Future in Perspective.

You forgot paulinho

Haha, he was so abject during his last performance I forgot we had signed him!
I jest...I shall include him right away!

I think even though he is still adapting to the English game, you have to have Paulinho in ahead of Dembele. Gonna be much more of a threat.

When you noted that I forgot to include him, I juggled with that idea, thinking 'where should I include him?'. Nevertheless, I put him on the bench as he is still adapting as you stated, and I still feel Dembele is our best ball retainer in the squad at the moment.

But it's all open to opinion, everyone may have different opinions on who to include or leave out, i'm sure there'll be a lot of squad rotation this season based on form, injuries, tactics, opposition etc.

I suppose we should just be thankful that we have the luxury of rotating quality with quality this season! Am feeling optomistic

Dont understand the point in Townsend yet, or Dembele
