Best transfer window ever.

Looking at this window from the perspective of the entire Premier league you'd have to say this was the best transfer window of all time.

Arsenal got the marquee signing their fans wanted, Liverpool bought some good players (and kept Suarez), City bought well, Spurs bought a ton of very good players, Chelsea did well and United bought a player in the one position they were desperate for but didn't buy so much that the league was a foregone conclusion. Even Saints, Everton and Norwich bought well.

Last season United won the league at a canter and people denigrated our success (mainly our own fans) by saying there was a lack of quality in the division. Now i'd say that the league is wide open and even Liverpool could win it based on how well they've done without Suarez and their good start this year.

Speaking from a football fans perspective before any club allegiances are mentioned this summers transfer window has been a great success for the Premier League because with United not spending as much and the other teams spending what they have a gap has been bridged and now as many as 6 teams could win the Premier league this year.

I for one am very excited.

Robb you crack me up. Only you can manage to put a positive spin on yesterday. You should work for Utd's PR department

"We believe yesterday and the transfer window as a whole has been a major success. The gap between ourselves and our other competitors has been significantly reduced due to our c'ockups which should make it harder for us to retain the title but hey, more competition now Thanking you for all your support!"

All I wanted this summer was Fellaini and I got that.

Im all for a little positive spin on things ..

However .. no matter how much sugar you sprinkle of $hit .... it will still taste like $hit.

Saying our incompetence in the transfer window is a good thing for everyone concerned is stretching it a little too far.

I don't think you understood the gist of my article.

I'm not interested in trying to cheer up United fans. I'm more interested in looking at this from an objective manner and how the league is more competitive.

What is your objective opinion on how United have gone about in regards to their transfer dealings this summer ?

I think it was a steep learning curve for Woodward and he'll do better next year. Pretty much everything that could go wrong did go wrong and it showed just how good Gill was at his job.

If Woodward has any intelligence (which given his background you'd think he would) then he'll learn from this and will put in a much better shift next summer.

Buying Hererra on the first day of the winter window will go a long way to fixing the problems of this past window in my eyes.
