Q: You move from RM to Arsenal London? Why did you chose Arsenal London?

Özil: Firstly Im happy and I felt the trust Wenger gave me immediately. I had a very long telephone call with him. He said what he expect from me and that he trust me and trust is exactly what I really need as a player. Secondly I enjoy to meet my national team mates Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker. I am happy to face a new challenge in London. I heard that Arsenal have super fans and the city is exciting too, the team is super quality and yes I am happy.

Q: Arsene Wenger is a renowned manager who speaks German very well. Was that also helpful?

Özil: Of course. Not only Arsene Wenger but also Per and Lucas who will support me. I fancy the new challenge.

Q: For a few days there was a press conference in Madrid where you said you would stay at Madrid. Why did you change your dicision a few days later?

Özil: At the point I said I would stay I was convinced I would do so but shortly after I didnt feel I had the full trust from the responsibilities at RM. I am a player who really needs to feel the faith and I felt this from the first moment on from Arsenal.

Q: Does the World Cup in Brazil next year has an influence in your decision to move?

Özil: Of course. Arsene Wenger gives me the faith and as a player I wanted to progess as well. I knew what I can do and what potential I have. I can play for every team in the world because I am convinced of myself but if I dont feel the faith in me (at RM) I decided to move on. Arsenal trust in me and I am really excited to join them. I hope that I progess and develop under Arsene Wenger and yes I enjoy to play in the Premier League.

Q: Last question. You was very popular among the Real Madrid fans. Will you miss them?

Özil: Yeah of course. They support me till the end and they expressed the support in the stadium in chanting „dont let Özil move“ and that showed that the fans are behind me. On one hand that makes me sad but on the other hand it all belongs to the football business nowadays. I wish my mates at RM all the best. Hope they stay healthy and they have a successful season and yes I want to say thanks to the fans who support me till the end.
