On many threads I've seen Arsenal fans saying that now that they have Ozil they will finish above Man Utd etc.
For me this won't be the case. Arsenals defence will always look like a cause for concern for me and with only 1 notable signing in the window, the squad looks thin.
Should Giroud get injured this weekend who do they turn to in attack? Sanogo an unproven youth player? Play Walcott out of position and hope his pace will get goals? If you look at the depth of other big teams Arsenal is useless.
The Super cup last week, all of Bayern Munichs bench and Chelseas bench would walk into Arsenals starting line up (apart from GK).
Spurs have spent £110m on quality players for the price of losing just 1 from the squad last season. I would have to tip them for 4th place with Arsenal in 5th. Should Ozil and Cazorla get injured, who will be Arsenals saviour?
Don't get carried away

Our defence leaked goals last season because of two things.....a poor midfield in front of it and a cavilier style to our play.
................................
And SAF chopping and changing it each week, until mid season when Rio and Vid were mostly present. Then our defence looked better.

Wenger knows...he'll turn Ozil into a really good DM
Spending 60% of the apparent 'budget' will mean Arsene meets his financial KPI so he gets his bonus
Basically the club had to do something, the wave of derision from the Arsenal fans was so strong due to the lack of ambition displayed.
Ozil should be a great signing but he'll also weaken this famed 'defence' as he isn't someone who has had to track back. So will Arsenal set out to outscore the opposition in each match. If they had RVP maybe. If they'd displayed true ambition they could have been adding to a team with RVP & Cesc ahead of Song.
Arsene has done the bare minimum he had to. I'd suggest the delay in confirming this deal was Ozil hoping United would come in for him.
I can't understand why they didn't. Felliani will add some steel to the midfield. Ozil feeding RVP would be lethal.
But no, Arsenal have had RVP scoring 30 goals a seaosn and Cesc at his best in other seasons and still struggled to hit the top 4. Overly optimistic as usual... not much has changed. It's not fair to think Ozil can do so much.

You take RVP now we have a WC player you wished you had. Never seen a meltdown among man utd fan like I have seen in the last 48 hours. Love it.
ps: 8-2 and trophy jokes no longer wont the same affect now that we have a player you want.
Now stop obsessing over Ozil and get behind your new manager.

Gooner here!
Listen we are just happy we signed a top player. It's been a long time coming.
Yes he may not be what we need but he better than anything we have and probably any mf in the league so in the sence, he is exactly what we need.
Ignore the wum gooners, united will still be there or there abouts.
It's up to us to try and close the gap

I think Ozil is amazing for Arsenal, but can't deny the need that Fellaini fills for United. I think depending on how well he gels in early, he could become a Yaya Toure like player for United, using strength and power on the ball to give it to a better distributor like Carrick, Rooney or Kagawa. Break up play and be an enforcer so Carrick most importantly can operate more freely.
Cleverley and Anderson, unlike Ryan Giggs, cannot play CM effectively enough to complement Carrick in most games, and certainly not in european semi finals or crucial league ties (City, Chelsea, Spurs, etc.)
I think had Ozil joined United, it would have probably been to replace Rooney. Rooney is still here though, so no real need for Ozil.

I think some gooners on ja606 ain't exactly representative on the whole bunch.
we're a team who finished 4th + ozil, that's not really going to be enough to finish with 86pts+ is it.
i'd just be happy to win a trophy, any, and push on from there.

Ozil is a great player but isn't really what we need at United...
For some reason everyone seems us to want to buy no. 10's when it is actually central midfielders we need!
We have Rooney and Kagawa for no.10 which is plenty strong enough and plenty of others that can play there....
Which is why even though Ozil is the better player than Fellaini we needed Fellaini more and we would have probably needed to sell someone (Rooney or Kagawa) to fit him in.
