Ozil is undoubtedly a World Class player and his arrival plus Arsenal's willingness to pay such a large transfer fee will change the dynamics of
club.
Over last 2 seasons Arsenal have brought in a number of players who play
for Spain and Germany the two top ranked international teams according
to FIFA.
We have also got some of the best young British talent as well.
However, our lack of trophies in last 8 years plus an unwillingness to spend large sums of money on transfers and wages has impacted negatively on the club's status. It has resulted in several of our best players
leaving and the club being considered to be unambitious and undersold.
That will now change. We have a strong team/squad which has lost just
one competitive game since 1st March. We are in my view a match for any
team in EPL.
The only shortcoming in the squad is a striker of genuine World Class,
but Ozil's arrival will make that easier to bring in.
Yes we should also strengthen the squad with a top class defensive midfielder, but that is no longer a priority.
OZIL'S ARRIVAL WILL OPEN DOORS

The signal which is being sent out now to best talent
in Germany,Spain and England is that Arsenal is the
club to go to.
We have recruited not only established internationals, but some very promising young talent from these countries as well.

Koscielny is a liability
----------------------
Yeah, you guys should drop that van Persie too, he's crap.
Jesus, we conceded fewer goals last season than 18 of the other teams, including CHELSEA and MANCHESTER UNITED. Our defence is fine in terms of quality, it's a good 4th choice we need.

Defence isn't good enough imo. Koscielny is a liability, full backs are a worry defensively and the GK is very shaky - better hope Emiliano Viviano is better

Did arsenal not have a better defensive record than title winners united last season?

Most of our defensive frailties last season came from midfield. Flamini could be a master stroke even if underwhelming. We never truly replaced him and he is a leader. Our win ratio without Arteta last season opposed to with him was staggeringly low. Between them and Ramseys improvement I'm confident we will surprise people this season.
Oh and we have Özil and between him and Cazorla we have enough quality to destroy most teams.

U wot m8? The only thing we're really lacking defensively is an extra centre back. Quality wise, we're absolutely covered, it's only in depth that we're, as Wenger might say, a little short.

I agree that we do need a fourth string centre back rather than use Sagna. We need him to play in rfb position.
I believe that Vermaelen's problem last season was his back. If the problem has been resolved then I think that we will be fine defensively.
I agree that we were weak defensively in midfield. Time will tell whether problem has been resolved with
arrival of Flamini.
The bottom line is that other teams competing for title
and top four positions also have weaknesses. None
are perfect.
The lesson to be learned in this transfer window is that none of the other clubs in EPL will do us favours.
In future we need to do our business elsewhere.
The only players at our main competitors who are remotely of interest are Mata and Rooney. If there is
any lesson to be learned by Wenger don't waste your
time targeting other players in EPL unless you are
prepared to accept aggrevation and/or inflated price
such as we experienced with Liverpool and Newcastle.
Suarez is not the player for Arsenal and Cabaye in my
book is no better than a squad player. Arsenal should
not consider spending more than £10 million on such players.
