First off i don't want this thread to transcend into a Pieterson, trott debate. That's been discussed to death and for what its worth i think they are both ok due to having some English blood in them.
Now Morgan and Rankin are Irish through and through. I know about the laws and both are abiding to it, and it's within their right. However, it just seems wrong in so many ways. What with Irish growing cricketing culture, the old adage of playing for England so they can play tests, may also not stack up if Ireland get test match status.
Anyone else share these grievances. Wonder how Morgan and Rankin felt inside when playing against England over in Ireland.
I think they should both do a Ed Joyce and become fully fledged Irish players again. Just to note i am English and think both Rankin and Morgan are decent players in ODI cricket.

In fact to rubber stamp my point more clearly under present law we could have 22 players that have no English heritage or ancestory. 11 Shamus, O'Brain's, lafferty's Versus 11 Shamus, O'Brain's, lafferty's

Well England do, but in my humble opinion the selection criteria is wrong.

Should you only have coaches from your own country ?

Coaches from your own country....mmmmm that may be a step too far, but i where do you stop or bring the barriers down? I guess we can take this further and the implications of rules can lead to interesting conundrums.
One day we will have an British Indian prime minister in England.

Anyone think that if Ireland had Rankin, Morgan in their test team they could potential give NZ, West Indies a good game?
