Price of Football

Ignore City, they can afford it.

To be honest, I think our ticket prices are in line with everyone elses.

While Arsenal's prices are extortionate the BBC survey was not reflective.

A season ticket at a lot of clubs will only include league games and not (domestic) cup games.

With FFP bearing it’s teeth over the next few years expect all clubs to increase ticket prices.

I agree, my season ticket includes CL and cup games, my mates chelsea ST is just 19 PL games....

that hardly ever gets noted in these discussions..

We get Cup games. If you divide the cost of the ticket by number of games, it's cheaper than others, including Spurs.

City aren't anything to do with the realities of football.

IMO the BBC survey does highlight how ridiculously over priced the PL is.

The PL defends ticket prices by comparing them to a night out to the theatre or a show. IMO this is wrong as these are more often than not ‘one offs’ and do fans of ‘Cat’s’ follow the show each week, home and away!

Football clubs IMO are relying on the fans passion and commitment to their team however if you look at the likes of Bayern Munich they understand that revenue’s via commercial deals etc dwarf that of ticket sales and have chosen not adopt an aggressive policy like most of their PL counterparts.

The irritating thing for clubs like Arsenal is the amount they are making from TV deals and sponsorships mean they could lower the amount of the ticket prices without it really having an impact on finances.

How many of those £255 season tickets are there, over 100?

After many years of this I see that people still struggle to grasp the fairly basic economic concept of demand and supply.

While i take your point the debate on ticket prices is more complex than "people are buying them". Real fans are being priced out and replaced by tourists attracted by Sky.. as witnessed at the library, and increasingly, at the Lane

German ticket prices are kept low with the addition of standing areas, you can watch Bayern and Dortmund for less than the price of a cinema ticket...
