Tbh though that's not good enough. We had no excuses for not strengthening. We've 'made do' for long enough now. We should be putting our squad in the best possible position to challenge for honours, signing a CB would've been a good start. Another striker would've been the icing on the cake.

Hard to disagree, but I'm naturally positive when it comes to the Arsenal, I just don't think it's worth complaining about now.

As am I, in general. Much more enjoyable to be a positive fan. I'm still over the moon over the Özil signing if I'm honest, but I still don't think it's right to overlook our shortcomings this summer.

Tbh, with Özil here now, I think we're so close to challenging for trophies, which is why not signing those two extra players is slightly disappointing. Hopefully we're still in with a shout by January and we can finish things off with the squad then.

We played Sagna at CB there last season and he was the best player on the pitch by a mile.

As for the supposed lack of depth, well Flamini was part of the record breaking defence that got to the CL final playing at LB so it isn't like he it's an unfamiliar position to him. Ramsey played RB at Sunderland last season and was pretty good there, too.

We should have bought another defender because if both Per and Kos are out, things look bad, but we can cope without Per for 1 game.

He didn't look great tbh, was decent but struggled at times against Altidore

I guess I rate Jenkinson a lot higher than most on the site do... felt Wenger went with the best option today.

If Mertesacker picks up a long term injury I could actually see Sagna-Kosc continuing with Vermaelen on the bench.

Vermaelen-Sagna could be interesting, though...

And I like Sagna as a captain.
