The squad is currently thin as part of a transition period. Wenger has stripped away the deadwood (barring Bendtner) and left a core of players both him and the fans trust and believe in. This solid core means we can add real quality in the transfer market and begin to compete again (Özil). It also means we haven't got any garbage weighing down the wage bill so we have more money to change our wage structure and give the best players the wages they want.
I'm certain Wenger would've wanted another striker in the squad but there was clearly no-one available at the level of quality he wanted. What's the point spending £15m on someone who's not going to improve the first team? I'd much rather see us put a big bid in for Falcao, Martinez or Muriel in January.
The current squad means no deadwood, plenty of experience, quality players to attract potential signings and hopefully a reduction in our worst enemy, individual errors. I think Wenger has got a plan, and I think now he has money he's not going to waste it on sub par players.
The Squad is thin for a reason

This transition period is too long for my taste

Stop being an idiot. Why would you want a transition period to go into a season and watch us potentially drop more points, when we had the opportunity to sign players? That's just stupid thinking.

'The squad is currently thin as part of a transition period.'
You can't gamble with a thin squad with injuries already, that's ludicrous.

No excuse, we had almost 3 months to bring in additional players. Why not secure Demba Ba long before deadline day. Mourinho only blocked that transfer after we got Ozil. Can't blame him.

The squad isn't even that thin, it's getting a bit exaggerated. Even with all our injuries we'll still have a quality team out today. When our players are back we'll have a great squad. The only positions we're missing are a striker and back up defender, not really a disaster and we have money to address is in jan.

Don't tell them that 8bit. They don't like a sensible comment.

We need a striker (desperately), a winger (Walcott is injury prone and inconsistent - like today) and Miquel should not have gone on loan.
If Girould gets injured we're left with Bendtner...
