Atmosphere

I don't tend to go unless I can get tickets in the Stretford or near the away fans.

It's a great shame the singing section never came to fruition.

I am a member and often sit in the East stand due to this and high up. Not the best. You cannot hear the Stretford End from there really, it's the acoustics of OT and the away fans it's their cup final and are stationed near the TV gantry so they always sound loud.
I refuse to go North stand top tier as it's just too high and South stand is just too quiet.
Quadrants by Stretford End are not too bad lower down but it's a pale shadow of the once rowdy, intimidating OT I knew as a small boy.

More than 90% go to OT considering over 55,000 are season ticket holders anyway, united need a big game to get going, it's reality but when it's good it's very very good. But since all seating no stadium is good to waist was. The stretford end use to produce an unreal noise when all standing, same with the kop, rocker park etc. safe standing areas are the answer for me, until then most grounds will be shittee. But united on the road, well that's another story as quite simply they are the best away support by a country mile!

Exactly Whiteside - Away from home is where it's at but very hard getting tickets these days if not a season ticket holder. Personally love Villa away and Wigan away !

I think the issue is the lack of safe standing in all areas of the ground. Myself and my bro are on the front of the second tier North right on the half way line. Great seats but there's not a load of atmosphere. Me n my bro go to a lot of away games where the atmosphere is always awesome, and at OT we always try to get it goin but after a few attempts without more than a mumble of agreement there really is a dis-inclination to keep it up. Personally blame seating as people seem to settle into a 'watching on TV mode' and if ur on ur feet 'too long' you've got the stewards or other fans asking u to sit down... sitting down n singing just seems unnatural amd gay.
However, used to be in the stretty and the atmosphere is always rocking there so its a total myth that theres no atmosphere inside OT. Unfortunately, due to the position of the away fans it sounds quiet because they are literally in the furthest away part of the ground to the United section. You can barely hear the stretty from the away section due to the acoustics.
I'd love them to put the away fans in between the North and the Stretty, they'd be utterly drowned out.

United have good away fans, but are terrible at home. Maybe it's the long journey to the home games that tires them out?

And the ding bat award goes to.......above! United have more local support than any other club, something the bitters hate to mention
