What we've learnt so far...

Feel free to add!

- Owners are working hard to appeal to fans and welcome their contribution.
- Owners don't have the money to buy us promotion.
- McDermott is tactically astute and seems to motivate the players.
- McDermott doesn't have the players he needs for a strong promotion push.
- We need to buy an attacking midfielder to play at the top of the diamond so Ross can play as a striker.
- We still need a pacey winger as our plan B.
- Although he'll go on to be at least a solid championship striker, Dom isn't ready to get the 10-15 goals we need a 3rd choice striker to get.
- Matt Smith isn't as good as we hoped, more Becchio than Lambert.
- Murphy hasn't lived up to being our new Howson yet. Strong passer of the ball but doesn't back that up with dynamic box-to-box work.
- McD is bringing more out of Tonge, but he's not looking 1st XI standard still.
- No one knows why Green can't play his best game consistantly.
- No one knows what the deal is with Diouf not being given a chance.
- Making Rudy captain is a masterstroke - we definitely need him on top form for a top half finish.
- We've gone from having one of the worst defences to one of the best.
- Crowds still aren't what they should be.
- A gold kit isn't as awful as it sounds!

We do actually have a couple of youngsters bubbling under
Promotion this season isn't realistic
Team next season needs to look quite different

GFH has bought some positives but there's still too much smoke and mirrors at ER.

McDermott needs to add to the squad either now via the loan market or in the next window, finances permitting. We are impotent up front and still lack real creativity.

Crowds won't return until there is some strong financial commitment from the owners. You are not going to delve deep after far too many lean years to watch a sub standard product.

I'm not convinced that under the current regime, ownership & management, that this club will get promotion within two or three years. Still too much change is required and GFH won't be here after two years if we aren't promoted and they don't have the finances to push for promotion.

I'm still positive as we are a better proposition than under Bates and certainly under Warnock. Just realistic as to where this club is and my where my expectations are now.

On Stevie Dees comment re crowds,
The owners have a Catch 22 situation on their hands. The crowds won't return without the Leeds public's attention being grabbed by ambition on behalf of the owners. The owner's don't have the financial muscle to bring in additional players and increased gates would help with that.

My fear is, that the longer we are in this limbo state, the momentum and goodwill generated by the owners will be gradually eroded again.

The apparent damage Bates has done to this club goes beyond negligent and borders on criminal.

Completely agree with that fear Eddie.

Just because Bates is gone, does not mean everything is fixed.

Real efforts need to be made to show ambition.

BM - good manager
inbound transfers - some poor, some ok, none outstanding

Is that ambition?

I think we are going to have to wait until next summer, when players leave for us to have any real chance of seeing any ambition.

This season is just about treading water.

Eddie, you are of course absolutely right but until someone makes that first move its going to be a bit of a Mexican stand off!

GFH made the statement that they have the funds to support a push for promotion within two years. Evidence? They've done a lot to reduce prices but this is for an audience that has been raped and pillaged for far too long and sees the gesture for what it is, an attempt to generate bigger crowds and revenue.

All sensible stuff but when do they dig into their own pockets and show some real commitment. It has to work both ways.

McDermott also has to shoulder some responsibility. His signings have been a bit hit and miss thus far and we're still missing the "Wow" factor.

It's not an easy situation to resolve but equally it's not rocket science.

They knock £60 quid off season ticket prices which were £150 more than clubs like forest and Wednesday

And match day prices are still the same

Steve

Hit and miss, they been shocking

1 out of 4 is poor(wootton looked shaky last night)

Stevie the problems slightly worse than that and a bit disingenuous. GFH said they were planning on promotion within 2-years and the following week stated that their intention was to sell the majority stake in the club to a richer body/person. In other words if promotion doesn't happen it wasn't our fault we were not in charge

You can ban 'em, but you can't keep 'em down. Clive is now a valued contributor to Not606.

London at the moment I would welcome a first choice striker that got 10-15 goals let alone third choice, Varney is our best striker, Hunt I wouldn't bet on scoring this side of Christmas and Smith is nowhere near good enough at this level
