Tactics for home games

Evening all,

I thought tonight was very poor tactically. Whilst we won and we were never in danger due to the poor quality opposition, I cannot help but feel that we will come unstuck against a midtable premier league team at White Hart Lane. The likes of West Ham, Stoke city,etc will be licking their lips. They are mostly defensive teams away from home playing for a draw but hoping for something more.

Tonight we again played with one inverted winger usually it is two or we will play a central player cutting in offering us very little width.

This narrows the pitch significantly, when you get a team away from home intent on playing with 10 men behind the ball it clogs the pitch up. We then end up playing sideways passes or backwards passes because there is no space to play the ball or even space for players to run into. All of this slows down the tempo of our play and allows the opposition to re-organise themselves defensively.

By playing the defensive high line it also condenses the pitch again providing no space or outlet, which is why we end up going back to Lloris so much during games.

Some of the clueless media have labelled us as boring but they do not understand the difference between outright negative tactics and our tactics which are attack minded.

I am not criticising as the tactics used tonight are perfect for away games. I just feel using natural width, hugging the touchlines and making use of our incredible pace would punish teams significantly at White Hart Lane. It would also allow us to counter if the opposition made a meaningful attack as there would be space for players to sprint into.

Talk to me about tactics/formations what would you like to see or are you happy as is?

@hrh

obika is off buddy to the championship once his ankle is fully clear anyday now.

@chronic

I am not suggesting he is a bad player in fact I am a huge fan but tactically he is poor positionally when we are in possession. He is not a scapegoat I am merely pointing out siggys weakness in my view.

I assume you disagree mate?

He's not a natural LM by any choice, but he's adapting like most of our team at present

Don't you know that the number 1 Ja response to something you don't agree with is , llm?

I would rather have a winger dilemma than a fullback one, which is why it is naughton for me
