Today's Sun in Scotland has its front page lead story, the whole of page 5, and its comment column, devoted to Leigh being driven to thoughts of suicide by internet trolls.
It's also in other papers, and as the Sun is now subscription only, here's the story in another Scottish daily...

Griffiths was "Suicidal"

Interesting. While have sympathy for players that experience mental health problems - money and success is no bar to becoming ill whether that illness is physical or mental – I don’t understand why someone would allow something you can easily walk away from to drive them to that state of mind.
If being on Twitter makes you suicidal why not pack in Twitter?

I just deleted the "smiley" I'd posted to raise the awareness of the thread, as I posted it at the same time (or fractionally later) than Tatts made his post. I haven't done anything to offend myself...
Amazing in a way that he's still big news up here.

Feel for the player. Coming from a personal point (no myself) but doesnt matter how much money and love you can have, It doesnt always change anything.

agree completley, i mean school yard or workplace bullying is a different issue but you can always turn the net off, this is not a jab at any victim who suffers online bullying but i feel a very very small part of them revels in the victim role
Its like the girl who commited suicide a few months bk the website she was on said they found some of her messages were sent to herself from her own computer from the ip addresses

I have followed Leigh on Twitter for over a year now and he certainly got plenty of abuse but he gave plenty out too, and I could never understand why he re-tweeted (shared with everyone) the abusive comments he received. He was just giving these people the infamy they craved.
The answer is clearly to walk away from twitter and many people in the public eye have done that now or got their agents to comment for them. I think this is partly about him being hooked on twitter and I suspect Wolves will try to persuade him to stop
