Amir Khan seems to be Floyd Mayweather's next pick for a clash in May 2014.
Reports are than Khan is going to sidestep the Alexander fight and go straight for Mayweather in May of next year.
Khan will probably have a warm up fight against a nobody as a warm up to the bout.
The fight is expected to take place, not in the UK due to tax reason, but in MGM Grand Las Vegas.

Khan vs Mayweather: Next May

Dont like Mayweather but can only see this ending one of two ways. Points decision (will always be the way as long as FMJ boxes in the states) with Mayweather backing up for 12 rounds sticking out the jab and giving another "masterclass" or i hate to say it i will go as far as saying a Mayweather knock out , a few shots he landed the other night will have Khan doing the chicken dance. Would love to be wrong but just dont think Khan has the power.

This fight will never sell. Khan needs to bring a world title minimum to the table. The American boxing public are many things but they are not stupid.

khans gotta still take the bradley fight...beat him and then maybe look at challenging PBF.....
BUT however way he does it...its pay day only as either by points or late KO...khan's getting owned.

Khan has fought a higher calibre of opponents than Canelo, yet some people liked that fight.

D4 Canelo brought a world title to the table and was undefeated, Khan has nothing to offer and is on a downward spiral so to speak, so their is a big difference between the two fights.
Mayweather will win with ease as the only hope Khan has is to box clever, something he has failed to do upto now, if he gets careless, which he will no doubt do, he will get stoppped.

Khan has won more world titles than Canelo, and has probably fought more world champs as well.
Against Malignaggi and Judah, Khan boxed perfectly.

It is bizarre when you have world champions in this division and below/above who have better records and some are unbeaten who have all been bypassed for Khan.
Khan has a good following in the US as they like the way he box so there will be appeal but this will be a 80/20 fight in FMJ favour because everyone know's Khans weakness and team Floyd will milk this.

it does make financial sense if your khan, fight alexander in a 50/50 fight for maybe 2mill and if you lose you probably lose the mayweather shot, or fight mayweather for close to maybe 6,7 mill plus ppv? even if you lose you can go back to alexander fight
thats the way boxing is at the moment, sad times

Deserving?
You should know by now Mayweather picks all his fighters by the formula money over difficulty.
Khan makes Floyd the most money and is much more easier than a fight with Martinez, Golovkin or Pacquiao.
