McClaren's made his mistakes AND LEARNED FROM THEM, something Your Nige singularly failed at. McClaren is happy to surround himself with the best coaches he can get, Your Nige was threatened by them and so opted for fat yes-men.

McClaren's CV buys him more time than Your Nige's surname and a decade of kickabouts in non-league bought him. Clough came in an amateur and stayed amateurish right til the last: it's a kind of stability but I don't admire him for it. McClaren's managed at all levels including probably the hardest one in world football: there's no doubt in my mind he's good enough for Derby County; Clough was always reaching.

But.....I want the OBN (Old Boys Network) to succeed. As one of those two media ignoramus' said last night on RD, the only way to win the fans over is to keep winning games. Well, yes. I'll settle for that I can't subscribe to the view that 'Ferguson and Redknapp know what they're talking about' as a reasoning behind him being a good manager (or life coach or whatever the hell he's going to be called) what it means is, he's recognized as being a good number 2.

He's here as Head Coach. 'Arry and Fergie say he's a great coach. He shall be mainly coaching, which he is good at according to 'Arry and Fergie.

Perhaps if Clough had focussed a bit more at being an good coach instead of arguing on one then none of this might've happened.
