I can't believe the amount of stick Moyes is getting on here. It's bloody six games into the season and the way you are talking about Moyes is as if he has been relegated already..
We have not had a great start, but it's not like our rivals have had a great start either. Taking out the newly promoted teams;
Chelsea same games last year – 13
Chelsea same games this year – 8
City same games last year – 7
City same games this year – 7
Arsenal same games last year – 18
Arsenal same games this year – 15
United same games last year – 10
United same games this year – 4
I can't believe people are letting media rubbish influence their loyalty towards the club. No matter who is the manager, fans must be behind the club. There is a point which fans should feel aggrieved by the way the team is playing and if the manager is not doing well, then vent. I think after how lucky we have been over the last 26 years, that should be after 2 seasons, not 6 games...
Some United fans need a kick up the....

I wouldn't say he over achieved at Everton, but he did very well. I think it is widely regarded that Moyes is a very good tactician. There is plenty of people who have said this about him in the world of football, not just us supporters who don't have the first clue about the ins and outs of a football club. One thing Fergie was not was a good tactician.
Fergie was very close to getting the sack before he started winning things, but he was given time. It takes years to build up a squad of players to play the way you want to play, to enforce your own philosophy on the game - he can’t be expected to do it overnight.
And as I asked, who would you want instead of Moyes?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
SAF got given that time because he actually was a proven manager beforehand. Winning the SPL with Aberdeen (TWICE), beating Real en route to winning the CWC.
I don't get paid millions to pick a manager, but seeing as SAF knew he was going at Christmas I was surprised he didn't approach Guardiola before he went to Bayern.
Jose wanted the job.
Great tacticians would have won away at OT, Emirates, Stamford Bridge or Anfield at least once in nearly 50 games.
It just seems he was hired for every reason under the sun BUT the ones that actually pertain to being a top class football manager.

But they people who get paid millions to pick a manager did pick him, so he must have something.
I am not saying he will be a success, even though he was my first choice. I wouldn't take Pep or Jose at United. Jose plays horrible football, falls out with players, owners, fans. He is arrogant. He would have no loyalty to united. Short term manager for short term success. Not something a club like united needs or can afford.
And I don't think you can rule him out of being a great tactician because he never won away at those grounds. In fact, it should be the opposite. He was up against a far superior team so he would play for the draw and to get that would surely be an achievement??

Moyes record reads 18 points out of 135. That is not being a great tactician.
SAF picked Moyes, while SAF got a lot right, he also got a lot wrong.
As for style of football Jose's teams score bucker load of goals, his first spell at Chelsea they were constantly scoring over 90 goals. At Real Madrid they scored over 100 goals.
Moyes teams play such great football they put Fellaini as a number 10. Compare the style of Everton last season to this season.
And if longevity was the overriding factor then I guess Tony Pulis was second in line right?

Ye. it's been terrible at times. What is your point. I was raising the point that Jose does not play exciting football, even when he has world class players on his side. Moyes has never had that opportunity yet he has been written off.
The difference between Moyes is that he gets on with players, fans, owners. He is a professional. He (hopefully) will be wise in the transfer market. He will look for long term success rather then making a name for himself and moving on. He will stay with the club!!!
SLM,
You gave two names instead of Moyes, how do you know they would even join United? Maybe these people would not like to live in Manchester.
I think United fans need to get their head around the fact that the board and directors are not fickle. They will give the new manager time and the time he deserves. If that means that as a club we go through a transition period then so be it. To hear all the abuse he is getting from our own 'supporters' is disgusting...

dont be so naive.
the fact is utd are the first club of a decent stature to show an interest in moyes, and he had no hesistation in leaving Everton.
lets not make out he has some big sense of loyalty.
everton paid him very well while he was there, but as soon as someone bigger came along he went.

Nobody does. The only thing we know for certain is the loss of CL money for the club.Losing CL won't necessairly effect sponsorship, especially after 1 season. It will slightly effect match day tickets but that won't do too much damage to the club.
Players won't want to leave just beacuse of 1 year without CL football, unless it is their last season and a big team come in for them. i don't think it will affect players coming to us drastically either.
The only thing we know for a fact is the direct loss of cash from CL. We are a rich club with big sponsorship deals, it will not be the undoing of us.
I would much prefer to struggle in the league for a few years while building up a squad around the new manager. Long term stability (of the club not the manager) is more important than short term success.

Define short term success.
These 3 clubs are relatively unstable:
Barca
Real
Bayern
Do they have short term success?
Did the Milan team of the 80's and 90's have short term success because of instability?

Football is very different now, the amount of money in the game is scary. Top clubs could go bankrupt in days. City, Cheslea, Madrid would be in termoil if their backers pulled out.
Although I am not just talking financially, stability in every sense of the word..
