as a kid growing up there were always players that you hoped that your club would sign.
now im not talking messi's or Ronaldo's, pele's or maradonas, but realistic signings.
as a kid i remember watching Marcelo Salas play, and at one point utd were linked in the press and nothing came of it.
i remeber thinking, wow, if we sign this player, thats who i'll be when im kicking the ball about the park.

Eto'o - linked with a £6m bid in 2002
Aguero - those rumours we bid £30m in jan 2011
Solskjaer - in 98 when united had yorke, cole and sheringham all the papers had spurs ready to sign him for about £5m!

He sure did They were our bogey team for a while. That 2-2 draw at the Reebok which pretty much ruined our title chances that year, still can't watch that game now on Premiership Years!
Late-April 2003, won't ever forget this, 2-0 up and they drew, then we (spurs) surrendered so weakly at home to united the day after, loads of spurs fans watching in the pub who weren't that fussed at how awful we were that day as we were guaranteed 10th-13th and it was going to cost arsenal the title. Just over a week after the epic 2-2 draw between arsenal and united at highbury - one of the biggest games in PL history IMO
