PES 2014 thoughts..

Always been a pes player although on the play station, I must say I am NOT a fan of this years release. Its just not enjoyable at all. I have slso heard people say give it a chance but have had it a few weeks now and still not enjoying it at all

I feel the same, I lent it to a mate for a week who's also a big PES fan to see how he gets on with it

I got PES 14 on the first day. There are many things which have basic flaws. For example:

* Goalkeepers are very poor. The CPU scores a lot of goals from the same weak spots (by the corner post).

* Tackling is poor. You almost have to wait for the opposing player to run into you.

* You just don't get the same atmosphere as you do with FIFA.

However, there are some good points:

* For the first time ever, you can zoom in/out and create playable camera angles. With PES 13 etc, you were given only 2 playable angles. One was too far out, and the other was too close.

* The players no longer run like robots.

* The biggest flaw with FIFA is the scripting. I don't know whether PES has it, or has it to the same extent.

I got PES 14 because it looks different to 12 and 13. FIFA 14, whilst a better game, looked too similar to FIFA 13.

Horrendous game, i agree that it isn't finished, i had to go online and double check to make sure i hadn't been suckered into buying a demo the game's that bad.

A few main problems:

Can't download the data pack

It's generally very unresponsive, switching between defenders is slow and is often the difference between a clearance and the opposition scoring.

The off the ball running which was a flick of a button last season is now two buttons and you have to hold them for a few seconds before the player makes a move, which with the AI's insane superhuman pressing in midfield is almost impossible to execute.

The recovery pace of the defenders is ridiculous, Rio can outsprint Walcott, Sendros has no problems staying with Lennon etc.

Regardless of the team you're up against, they ALL play the same style of crisp one touch pass and move with runners off the ball flying at your defence from all angles, Sunderland and Stoke play the same as Arsenal and Chelsea.

Why even bother making a game if that's what you're going to put out? one of the main reasons (possibly the only reason) people still play PES is for the superior game play to FIFA but i reckon if FIFA had an edit mode similar to PES now, PES would cease to exist.

It can safely be said that Pro Evo was the best football game on PS2, and FIFA the best on PS3.

Conami have become extremely lazy and arrogant. They release half-finished games, yet still charge full price. An alternative competitor to EA is needed if the PS4 is to produce any great football games.
