Stop changing the back 4 every single game, unless injuries make that impossible.
I thought Smalling and Vidic did well midweek in the Ukraine so I felt sorry for Smalling losing his place yesterday. And our defence did look really shaky once more yesterday.
And Jones's last 3 games for United. Midfield vs Liverpool, rightback against WestBrom and then Centre back against Sunderland. 3 games and 3 different positions. If we're not careful he's going to become a jack of all trades and master of none. The lad needs leaving in what he and Moyes see as his best role and that's that. We don't need him at right back as when Rafa is missing his brother should play.
One thing I'd like Moyes to do is....

With Felleini possibly out for 3 months (if belgium paper reports are true) then Jones will play more games as DM. I like Jones at DM. His positioning needs a little work but he has energy, technically good so can join in the passing and can drive the game forward with the ball at his feet.

I think Jones will turn out to be a top class CB, and he appears to be more vocal and a good organiser, very much in the Vidic role. I think we are lacking some leaders in the team right now, and that's why someone like Jones, who also has good ability, is important to us.
That's why I think we miss Fletcher also, because he knows how to organise our midfield and it would help release our more creative players.

I really think Moyes will buy a CB despite us having Rio, Vidic, Evans, Smalling, Jones .
Could be something in the Kagawa and Subotic swap if Moyes really decides he does not want Kagawa.
He seems quite annoyed by our defensive displays and may already thinking for life without Rio and possibly even Vidic.

im amazed at how quickly age seems to have caught up with Vida and Rio, more so with Rio, but even Vida looks shakey this season, we may need a CB next summer my choice would be Eliaquim Mangala from Porto, fantastic defender, big, quick, strong, good on the ball

Agree Mex.. a real prospect. Gutted we missed out on Varane..he looks class. Also if you look at Distin, think he is 36 but still performing very well and consistently.
Perhaps international football and CL have accelerated Rio's demise, though last season he was superb

Distin is one of the most under-rated defenders in the league, always been an excellent player, and the key thing is he has kept his pace, which is crucial to his game, even now at 34/35 he's one of the quickest players in the league

Moyes does need to pick a consistent back four, but first he has to decide which players are his first choice. It's much better for him to take 10 games to get make the right choice than pick two and then face problems if they don't play well together.
I think Evans has to be first choice and possibly Smalling along side him, although that leaves us light on experience.

should have sold Rio last season when he had some value. Think he would like to finish his career in London anyway. Vida looks suspect these days too with individual errors
Its gotta be Evans and Smalling or Jones and Smalling next season as the main choice.

For me, I genuinely worry when Smalling and Jones are our centre-backs.
Smalling in my eyes is a mistake waiting to happen. I'm not going to be biased though, he does rarely play at C.B and for me, Jones plays with his heart which is great, but his anticipation can be completely out the window in games.

Where does everyone get the thing that Smalling is a "mistake to happen"? When has Smalling ever made a massive mistake like Vidic yesterday?
